Both idol shows this season are good, but I really like Natsuiro Kiseki (which is the first schoolgirl series I've watched to run off actual teenage problems instead of condensed moe).
And yes, AKB is really about war/censorship/relationships between people and not just 'Oh! War? Who cares! Let's sing and dance!', they actually do come off as a terrorist group (From the governments current viewpoint, anyways). The OP alternates between making you sad and cute idol dance moves.

Infinity...So having been away from the wiki for a couple months, I've come back and noticed the brilliant well thought out new policy we've got.
Have any of the notable anime pages/decent series been excised?
"When you cut your finger, I do not bleed." Response of a man who lived on the outskirts of a concentration camp.Depends on what you call decent Two works were somewhat contentious, namely Kodomo no Jikan and Lotte no Omocha (both cut for sexualisation of minors). Oh, and Eiken was cut, as well as oodles of outright pornograpy and lolicon/shotacon. Details here (read the whole post), and the list of works under review (as well as reviewed works) is here. Personally, I think the P5 are doing a fairly good job with this.
You know what I really want? A manga or anime based on the 2006 World Baseball Classic. As a Korean, it pissed me off when I was watching it but I think since Japan won, it would be something that mangaka could jump on. Beating the Korean team that had already beaten them twice to advance to the finals. Sounds like a shounen-esque plot development. Fictional characters would be fine as long as it had the same format.
Nobody in Japan heard of Korea, or at least that's what I've learned from manga.
They know it exists, but from what I hear, Koreans are very much discriminated against.
If you go by how it's comonly depicted in Manga and Anime there's only 3 nations in the world:
Japan (obviously),America (from where the transfer students hail) and oddly enough Germany.
I never heard of any reference to Korea, like ever.
You forgot China.
Actually, I think Bludgeoning Angel Dokurochan mentions one of North Korea's presidents at some point — on TV, IIRC.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.China, Japan, America and Germany. Yeah, that sounds about right.
Shlugo.
WW 2 bro, and all the diplomatic ties that developed after that.
Sort of thing that stays in the cultural zeitgeist.
"When you cut your finger, I do not bleed." Response of a man who lived on the outskirts of a concentration camp. It's like Canada Does Not Exist gets applied to the rest of the world entirely.
@Arha: And Russia/Soviet Union, America's most hated enemy, of course. They're one of the primary reasons (others being China and North Korea) why post-WW 2 Japan had to create the JSDF, after all.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Russia doesn't actually come up that much though. My Girlfriend Is The President, Black Lagoon, ???
Darker Than Black, Ghost in the Shell, Durarara, Cowboy Bebop.
"When you cut your finger, I do not bleed." Response of a man who lived on the outskirts of a concentration camp.Haven't read the first, don't remember that, more Russian mafia stuff, don't remember that either.
@Sandor
I guess you're right, this would explain it. Though it's kinda funny how in WW 2 USA and japan were enemies but nowadays American youth munches at Japanese culture and thinks it's such a cool country.
The Middle East occasionally comes up, though mostly in Girls with Guns shows like Canaan, Noir and Madlax.
MAL || vndb || BlogAnd Full Metal Panic.
Oh, yeah FMP also had Russians, didn't it?
Hikaru No Go. Korea plays a pretty big role in the latter half of the manga.
But other than that, true.
I'm pretty sure England at least exists. Firstly there's Negima, and there are also some ojou transfer students from there too I think.
Australia fid come up once in the Clannad VN, where Tomoya says he's sure it's full of sheep.
Negima teaches us that England exists, but Wales apparently doesn't. What a confusing childhood.
And really, of course you can find specific counterexamples, but in general most anime sticks to those four countries.
...So you're telling me that the idol show pulled a C3? Wow.
