Did the average high schooler have a decent quality picture phone in '05?
Charlie Tunoku is a lover and a fighter.Seeing that just about every phone made in the past few years does, and based on my own experiences in high school, I'd say that while they're far from ubiquitous, it's not unreasonable to assume that a substantial percentage would.
We've only seen one cameraphone and that was not in the hands of an average highschooler. Logan is not an average anything.
As far back as Y2K phones were becoming able to view images sent from cameraphones, even if they didn't have their own cameras.
The entire thing gives me a chuckle, because of the differing standards between cultures.
You can see (cartoon) nudity in 12- or 13-year-olds pretty routinely in Japan. But that's the Japanese for you.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxUh, I don't see how this comparison is at all relevant. Cartoons are still cartoons. They are ageless and don't hurt anyone. Eponine, however, is a "real" person (in-comic) and is being (morally) hurt by this incident.
Of course, the notion that if she was some months younger the whole thing would be a massively bigger crime then it is right now gives me a chuckle.

Well, in a totally nonsexual context, you can allow more things. Fantaghiro has a baby's gender unambiguously identified on-camera:
- Servant: (presents baby wrapped in a towel)
- King: I bet that after two failed attempts, this time it will be a male heir! People will gaze at his manliness as he joins the Heir Club for Men and shows how men are totally superior to women!
- (unwraps towel, suddenly vagina)
- King: ARGH WOE IS ME ANOTHER USELESS GIRL!

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."And Ash's fears of becoming mentally female are kinda sorta assuaged again.
http://www.misfile.com/?page=1867 So, another endless shiptease or will they actually kiss?
What do you want Bronn? Gold? Women? Golden Women?Shhh! You'll jinx it!
It's getting kinda ridiculous for them to not be kissing. They've been like this for a whole year, right? If nothing else, If It's You, It's Okay should be setting in.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxI'm thinking that this is Emily giving Ash the hint, and he's going to misread it and back off because last time something like this happened they had one of their nastier fights.
What matters in this life is much more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too. - F. Rogers.I'm actually betting that Missi or Rumi interrupts this, the latter earning a lot of ire from both parties if that's the case.
Rule of thumb: If the setup is obviously intended to give you enough time to think "Wow! Are they going to kiss?!", they aren't going to kiss.
Any, this would be a really random time to try and initiate a relationship, from a story perspective. No recent buildup, no particularly new introspection on Emily's part. I'm betting she's referring to something else and Chris is just screwing with the readers.

Text I feel is necessary to append to every post.Stop teasing us!
It's worth noting it seems to be Ash who killed the moment.
Charlie Tunoku is a lover and a fighter.Curse you, Ash, and your fairly reasonable reactions to complex emotional moments!
I can't say I blame him. The last time assumed Emily was trying to take the next step, the friendship almost died on the spot. He's just playing it safe this time.
Indeed. Note Emily's face in the page, she is a mix of confused and surprised. In fact, that Visible Silence panel is probably to represent what is going in Emily's mind right now.
Yeah.
I wasn't talking to the characters, I was talking to Chris.
Ash's reactions are indeed reasonable, its just the way the moment was set up is frustrating from a reader's perspective and that's all the fault of the author.
It could have been worse. He could have done that on a Friday.
Anyway, depending of how Emily reacts afterward, this scene might have be of some importance, teaser aside. Or it may be just a meaningless teaser. Time will tell.
Oh, about the new page, what the hell is a sophomore semi-formal? Is it common in all US schools? Btw, 'sophomore' means 'second high school year' (out of four), right?
Also, I always thought pre-misfile girl!Ash was still a tomboy, considering how most people treat her and speak of her past. I mean, even tomboy girls can be worried about their dresses, of course (as can boys be about their general appearance), but this sort of thing seems out of character for the Ash we know. I always assumed his general personality was mostly the same, regardless of his/her gender.

I assumed he was a bit of both. The timeline trys to stick to what happened but there should be huge differences, so it's stuck inbetween, but mostly still sticks to the origonal timeline.
Thing is, Girl!Ash would almost certainly have been asked to a dance like that, because she's, well, hot.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxIn my experience, Tomboys tend to worry the most about dresses and making sure they look good at the formals. Not so much that they prefer dresses, but it 's a big pain and outside their normal life experience.
That's probably why she was complaining so much.

Ash is a senior and Emily is a junior. Emily would have graduated the past school year, but she was pushed back two years on account of the misfile. They're 17 and 16, respectively, and I'd guess that Eponine is also 17, maybe 18.
