TV show, because it would allow for the time needed to tell the story.

Yeah if you wanted to tell the whole story through movies, you'd need at least seven of them and that's with trimming the story down.

Yeah, it would take a lot of movies. I think it could be done in four movies (Acts 1-4, then act 5, then Act 6 part 1, then Act 6 part 2 and Act 7) but a lot of stuff would need to be cut.

A movie might work if it didn't have any pretensions of faithfully telling the story- something marketed towards the fandom, which basically ends up being something like a two-hour version of Collide and Act 7, with other significant events leading up to it.

I mean, it might not be possible to turn a profit on that, but that's not the question we're asking here.

Personally, I would have Act 5 split up into two movies. Not because of length but because of the jarring shift in perspective.

Where would you split the movies?

It's obviously not a perfect split but:

• Acts 1-4 (end with Descend)
• Act 5 Act 1 (end with the trolls about to enter the door)
• Act 5 Act 2 (end with Cascade)
• Act 6 Part 1 (end with Caliborn: Enter)
• Act 6 Part 2 (end with the arrival of the meteor crew and Jade)
• Act 6 Part 3 (end with Game Over)
• Act 6 Part 4 (end with Act 7).

That seems good enough. But I think that a TV show would be the only proper way to cover the entire story. (I could see the merit in making the finale a movie though. I love End of Eva, so I'm always OK with that).

When I think Homestuck movie, my mind goes to Garden of Sinners. 7 movies with chronology fucked up the wazoo. Honestly I think a TV series would be better, but I really think HS is unadaptable.
