Pretty sure whether or not Hussie's joking when he says a thing isn't a good metric here? Like, he's exactly the kind of person who says a thing as a joke and then has that thing happen seriously in canon as a joke.

Like Betty Crocker. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some Word of God out there from the early days where he goes on a tirade about Betty Crocker being evil. I also wouldn't be surprised if he had already started to make plans for that to turn out to be true. But that wouldn't mean he wasn't joking.

I swear, if an argument happens because of people repeatedly insisting we're in a goddamn argument when we're clearly not I'm going to well frankly I'd probably just laugh and then attempt to settle it or change the topic, as appropriate, but please don't actually make it it happen.

And there's nothing necessarily wrong with an argument; just look back at the Quest Bed discussion. A conversation based on a disagreement where the involved parties are trying to argue for their position and/or against the other(s) can be fine, on-topic, and fun. What everybody should want to avoid is a fight.

The contentious thing, as far as there is one, seems to be the change on Hussie's part; and by "contentious thing" I mean "thing Imp mildly dislikes". I'm slightly put off by the retcon, but mostly my problems with Davekat are, well, problems with Davekat proper, and probably similar to usual ones; it kinda felt like it came out of nowhere, I liked their dynamic as friends better, and I liked the other romance dynamics in the Dave/Karkat/Terezi/Jade quadrangle better.

I really, really think we're not in danger of anything starting here, if people just take a deep breath and not jump to the conclusion that we're in danger of anything starting here.

Is Radiation working on Hiveswap too? It'd be cute if they cross-referenced.

Methinks you could stand to be a bit less sensitive about that sort of thing, Adric. Things were getting a bit barbed, but not really heated, and it wasn't really an argument.

I had a vaguely Homestuck dream last night, heavily influenced by this thread; it had Abecedarians eating tiny sushi rolls and a duck (I was looking at the horse-sized duck meme recently) stealing my quest bed that looked nothing like a quest bed.

Anyway, I'm just going to say that everyone involved could stand to think carefully about wording and what they're saying before posting. Strong words are all well and good, but don't act surprised when they draw a strong reaction. We've gone a good long while without giving the mods reason to look disapprovingly under our particular muddy rock; let's not change that.

The current argument, as far as I can ascertain, is about whether it is better to fight one horse-sized duck or one-hundred duck-sized horses.

100 duck sized horses.

Can the horse-sized duck still fly, or is it subject to proper square/cube law constraints?

I'd imagine it could still fly, due to the way birds work.

But 100 duck sized horses is the correct answer.
