As for the height head cannons, yeah stuff like Karkat, Nepeta, Jane and Rose being on the short side and Gamzee being the tallest are definitely common, and I hold them too. I always saw Mindfang as taller than the Dolorosa and Dualscar taller than Summoner. It's interesting that you put Sollux as one of the tall ones. Neat stuff.

I'm heavily influenced by others' heightcanons.

Whoever made those sprites clearly agrees about GHB because if you look carefully his head is on the same level as all the other sprites despite him clearly bending over.

About the Handmaid being the shortest ancestor, I figure scratch wouldn't have fed her much and probably not at all once she reached the Immortality Begins at Twenty stage.

Which is a rationalization i made up after stealing the headcanon from the person i also stole the idea of using shipping wall creator for heightcanons from.

Huh, interesting.

I always assumed Gamzee/GHB being the tallest was to make them look more threatening. Especially when you remember that pannel where Gamzee stands over Equius with a demonic silhouette.

Obviously Equius would be the second tallest with his muscular build. At least in my head.

I also assume Sollux's pretty tall for attractiveness. It's amazing to see how many fangirls love him for some reason.

Headcanon: Stoned Gamzee has a constantly slouched posture, so he looks shorter than the other trolls. When he turns sober, he stands up straight.

My headcanon height is that trolls as a species are significantly shorter than humans. Like, the tallest ones are just slightly higher than Dave's waist.

That's really less a headcanon and more a cool AU idea, lets be honest here.

Yeah because I dont think any kind of human/troll relationship is gonna be easy with drastically different sizes. Only the Mayor can be small and goddamn cute. I can't see Dave and Karkat fighting with a knight cape as easily, nor Doomed John taking Vriska seriously once they meet, stuff like that. Not to mention Rose and Kanaya's time alone.

However it sounds great for an universe that isn't main canon. Like, the kids discover those internet trolls are small, incredibly annoying bug-like aliens running around and punching them in the knees. Hilarious.

Why should Kanaya and Rose's time alone be made weird by that?

It would just mean Rose was a few steps lower on the staircase when she kissed her.

If someone is willing to date an alien in the first place, why is it so much of a stretch that they'd date an alien who is half their size? That's just got Unfortunate Implications written all over it.

I don't see any problems with someone dating an alien half their height, because I'm pretty sure there are people out there dating other adults with half their height :|

It's not the same as human x small human. They're still human so they have the same biological stuff. I don't wanna get graphical but what if small trolls were different from regular trolls? (like sea trolls are different from land trolls) Like, more insectoid inside, grey exoskeleton, whatever, because evolution compensates their smaller sizes with better Alternia-adapted biology. I simply wondered if it'd be more difficult for humans to interact with, who knows. But I guess it's so much speculation for a vague idea.

To clarify, I don't see ethical/whatever problems with that, just possible biological problems.

Fortunately there's Willing Suspension of Disbelief so I won't speculate all night.

It is indeed a cool AU, but I made my heightcanons based on a mix of "what does everyone else think" and "what would my ships look like side by side".

I'd disagree on Gamzee being taller than Equius, incidentally. Elfive's thing about slouching Gamzee is totally accurate, but he still needed to make Equius kneel before he could comfortably reach the guy's neck. Equius is just huge, towering over everyone else.

Eridan and Sollux are both people who kind of appear to taller than they actually are; the former because of how big his clothes are and the latter because he's super skinny so you kind of except him to be tall to compensate. More or less the same thing is going on with Terezi, except that she's actually short once you're able to notice it- but generally people don't because she has a way of filling the room. Tavros is the opposite; his general personality and the fact that he's rarely seen standing make it hard to notice that he's actually one of the tallest people around.

Vriska is one of those people who hits their growth spurt too early for their own good; theoretically she's tall and menacing, but in practice she doesn't really have the grace to pull that off and just ends up hit her head on doorways and shelves and things a lot.

Nepeta is sort of like Gamzee in that her posture makes her seem shorter. She's actually doing it on purpose to appear harmless, though- just like how she wears baggy cloths to hide the fact that she actually has a fair bit of muscle definition.

And, of course, Karkat is tiny. I don't have a strong opinion on anyone else.

Speaking of that it's hard picturing Roxy shorter than Jade for me. It's pretty ok in your pic, but not really my headcanon (which I'm not even sure of lol). Like, I picture Jade similar to John: cutie on the short end of the scale with a cloudcuckoolandy look.

I don't think that Gamzee had to force Equius to kneel because he couldn't reach his neck otherwise. It was more a show of dominance, what with Gamzee's whole "I'm the highblood" thing.

It's both, in my eyes- it's not like Gamzee couldn't have gotten the job done without making Equius a bit shorter, but the way he did things made Equius' neck 'line up' so that Gamzee could do it without stretching or slouching; he was making a show of killing him in a 'lazy' way.

Season 2 of Fargo just dropped. Great first episode!

If you knew how much I hated Equius that day, for being an idiot about the hemospectrum until the end. He could've broken that bow and killed Gamzee easily, no matter how strong the sober clown was. Equius could destroy a castle with a single punch.
