I think in the future, something will happen to prove that none of those three things happened and that there was an Exact Words type situation that led to us being simultaneously trolled by Huss and Scratch.

"Just" means that the universe thinks she deserved it. Or at least that clock did. Or that Jack smashing it actually killed her.
But I do believe that most of the characters will come back for some reason.
