Still standing pictures. No color. No sound. Often I don't like the art.
In short I dislike a lot of elements of manga. It also doesn't really carry over emotion for me like anime does. (There are only a few exceptions)
It's kind of like just reading the story, the plot while when I watch anime I actually live through it and experience emotions watching it.
Yeah...
I guess that makes sense. I do have to admit that I prefer watching/hearing a story to just seeing pictures. But I like manga anyway, and some things I think are frankly better suited to just being pictures than to being animated. I understand your point of view, though. I had already figured it was something like that, actually.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.I've seen a few episodes of the One Piece anime, and it drags on a lot more than the manga. Manga can also be carried around and is easier on the eyes. Still shots can allow for easier close examination, as in Watchmen. And as for pacing, consider the pages shown here — the joke at the bottom of the first, for one, wouldn't work nearly as well animated.
Really, skilled creators of comics or animation will use the best techniques of their medium in the structure of their work. That runs into problems if you're trying to create an adaptation as faithful as most anime series are to their manga. (American superhero cartoons are better about this, but that's partly due to how plotting works in superhero comics.) How many criticisms have you seen of movies saying that they tried too hard to be faithful to the source material? Watchmen and the first Harry Potter movie come to mind.
I just realized that Tooru's always smiling while Ryuu's always frowning. Huh...
Holy crap, Chiizu = "cheese"! Daaaaaaaaaamn!
Also AWWWWWWWW ;_;
Also Ryuu is so GAR GODDAMN.
As expected of Yuuichi Nakamura.
I already have episode 22 sitting here but I'll watch it before going to bed.
My FF.net accountYet another point of similarity between Sawako and I; getting invited to spend Xmas or a holiday with your friends was still is a big fucking deal. The awful sick feeling when you refuse, because it's your family and you can't let your family down. Then, you are trying to have fun with them, but you know friends are having a great time and you're not there with them.
Just to put the cherry on top of this remembrance sundae, add in the separate desperation of getting there in time for a party, hoping it's not over before you get there.
Can you stop mining my life for storylines, please? :-/
Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.15 and 17. No real commentary, except "Yano is evil" and "I'm not sure we're done with Kurumi or her character arc just yet."
Won't be watching any next week; spring break. So it looks like we won't be catching up until after it's over. ('Course, if there are only 4 episodes left to broadcast, we'd still be behind then anyway.)
Episode 22: Ack Sed mostly stole my words on the party invitation; I'll just add that I completely feel for Sawako seizing up on the phone with Kazehaya, having been there a couple of times.
Major family milestone with Sawako's cell phone—a symbol that her parents trust her to make her own decisions without their explicit approval.
On another note, the animators seem to really love their half-face-with-only-one-eye shots.
Kurumi's back in the next episode! This should be fun...
Spoiler bookmarklet for iPhone and iPod touchAm I alone in thinking that Sawako's parents are two of the most adorable characters in all of anime?

Apparently the latest Newtype says that Kimi ni Todoke will be running for 25 episodes. yesyesyesyesyesyesyes that's 4.2% more than I thought I'd be getting!
Spoiler bookmarklet for iPhone and iPod touchYES ONE MORE EPISODE.
My FF.net accountDear god this show makes me feel so girly I think I'm starting to grow breasts.
BUT IT'S SO EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I don't even know, why, but I was just squealing and flailing my arms about and stuff for the ENTIRE episode.
WHAT HAS SHOUJO DONE?!
It's one of the best shoujo I've ever read/watched, including Ouran. It doesn't have the misunderstanding stuff that's characteristic of shoujo.
My FF.net accountOh yeah, almost forgot.
*hugs Ack Sed*

Well to be fair, I am certain that either of Sawako's parents would have been happy to let her go to the party had they known about it. Sawako made a misguided Noble Sacrifice in this episode.
Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project!^^If Sawako didn't have to be so misguidedly noble (as usual), it wouldn't have been an issue.
Also, is it just me, or was there a bit of an Animation Bump in this episode? One moment I actually had to stop and screenshot because the drawing was so hilarious. I'm busy making that shot my new avatar right now.
There we go. Of course, what with the resizing and compression it looks like shit, but whatever.

Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.Yup! Lots of detailed expression this time around.
Well, we're headed into the final few episodes, so it makes sense that the animators would be ramping up. It's better than Shaft's policy of "great animation until we invariably run out of money" at least.
Spoiler bookmarklet for iPhone and iPod touchProduction IG is different.
Ugh, still no scans for chapters 40-44. I've only read synopses; I need scans so I can die from squeeing.
My FF.net accountIf word doesn't come soon about the possibility of a second series for Kimi Ni Todoke, I will probably give in and start picking up the manga again as well.
Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project! They probably won't do it immediately; the manga isn't that far ahead.

Why do you hate manga? I'd make the derisive remark that it's because you can't read, only you watch anime subbed.
So why?
