"I pictured that as one of the female evolutions of Tyrogue,"
How would that work though? Tyrougue is a male only species.
Man, I hope they're gonna explore the concept of evolution more in Platinum. I still didn't get very far into it at all, but that one encounter with Team Galactic and Professor Rowan in one place made me hopeful.
... No spoilers!
That said, you're surprised there hasn't been a mosquito Pokemon? There hasn't been a darn dolphin Pokemon anywhere in sight! It should be one of the starters in the next generation, I say! And there need to be more proper trees. And flowers. And stuff.
For bosses, I'd really like to see the Pokemon fight against some serious war machinery. It would have to be tamed a little to be suitable for kids, of course, but if Mother 3 can have tanks... It'd certainly give the use of Pokemon to fight crime syndicates some credibility. A critter that can shield you from a grenade launcher and survive handily... could be rather a bit more useful than a gun.
@Cortez: Well, gee, they could just, like. Change that.

@Fawriel: Good point.
They could also do a Nidoqueen/Nidoking thing.
Ah yes, we definitely need a dolphin Pokemon as well! And a swan too...
One thing that's Just Bugged Me is that the Evil Team always falls out of focus in the end to make way for the main "plot" of becoming Pokemon Champion. It'd be a nice twist if, the moment you became Champion, you suddenly heard about the Evil Team initiating the final stage of their plan, and you had to fight their leader again as the Final Boss. They could even have one of the team members infiltrate the Elite Four as foreshadowing.
Or heck, make the Team boss The Champion.
We already had one team boss as a gym leader.
The Evil Team is just an obstacle in your way to Capture a powerful being become Champion, see.
That's exactly what bugs me: the Evil Team never ends up being important in the long run, so it'd be a nice change if they remained a major threat to the end.

After a female champion in Diamond/Pearl, I wouldn't mind seeing a female evil team leader. And yeah, the evil team needs to be more important to the plot at large. I'd like to see a pokemon game where the primary goal is defeating the evil team and becoming champion is a side mission.

Are you not entertained? Not sure how'd they do that, most trainers(in the story) want to be champ.
What would cause them to get into it because of a team?Would it be somthing like Wes's story?
Alternate evolution for Psyduck caused by learning Petal Dance or something! A ballet-dancing swan! And to complete the madness, Psyduck gets a baby form that's an ugly duckling, which can barely swim because it's so clumsy!
AAAAWWWWWWWWWWW!
And it could be Water/Psychic, like Golduck SHOULD'VE been!
Hmm... you're fighting the Elite Four, finish off the fourth in sequence, then head on to the Champion room to find... nobody there. Turns out as soon as they saw you enter the League, they left to implement their plan while you were busy with the tournament.
Also, when you have these evil plots impacting the integrity of nature and all, it'd be nice to see the Wild Pokemon get more involved... ex, if Evil Team #5 blows up a lake sending Magikarp flying, why not have some freshly-evolved-and-ticked-off Gyrados join you in a double battle against the admins?
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?Psyduck gets a baby form that's an ugly duckling, which can barely swim because it's so clumsy!
Some Psyduck can barely swim as it is.;) The Cuteness Alert went off full force in a Sinnoh episode with the Psyduck roadblock — Psyducklings!
Oh, and loving the Buneary avatar.
For next gen I would like to see a ghost legendary trio.
- An Ice/Ghost-type skeleton encased in ice with high Sp. attack and Sp. Defense but low speed.
- A Fire/Ghost Skeleton ON FIRE or a Will-O-Wisp pokemon. It can have high attack stat and speed but low defenses
- Finally a Steel/Ghost possessed suit of armor with high defenses and surprisingly good speed but crap attack.

Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!"On that note people who want Pokemon to go Darker And Edgier bug me. "
Also, Red/Blue is darker than people generally give it credit for being.
It Just Bugs MeI think I might be getting what you're meaning, but Please Elaborate.
Team Rocket was pretty sadistic, and some pokemon actually died.
I don't mind if Pokemon gets Darker. As long as its done well, which Colosseum and XD failed to so IMO. Just remember "dark" doesn't necessarily death and blood. They could go the Disgaea/Mother 3 route if they wanted.
Besides there is a lot of territory that could be quite dark if explored in detail.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!Yeah, that's what I figured...
cubone's mom ;-;
Yeah, that's the main thing. Also
- the Pokémon trafficking Team Rocket runs out of Game Corner
- it's implied Mewtwo killed the scientists at the Pokémon Mansion
- some of the Dex entries - I remember one about Nidoking crushing the bones of its prey...and going back to Mewtwo, who else got creeped out by imagining what kinds of "horrific experiments" went into its creation?
- People are plain mean, notably Gary ("Your Pokémon don't look dead! Well, I can at least make them faint!") and the anarchic Bikers and Cue Balls.
- You have no support team like in later game, what with Mom and the Professor calling and the helpful League Champion dropping by to help you battle the bad guys.
Also, not really a matter of Darker and Edgier, but RBY was the only game that featured the gamblers, one of whom is responsible for my favorite line in the whole series: "I'm a rambling, gambling dude!"

It Just Bugs MeAlso Missingno.
Torment liveblog is still hiatusing. You can vandalize my contributor page if you want something to do.On a semi-related note: From the rival battle in the Pokemon Tower onward - where he talks about dead Pokemon - you never see his Raticate again. (It's last appearance was just before you get Cut)
Wow... spooky...
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?Speaking of Nightmare Fuel, the Old Chateau.
In my opinion the creepiest part isn't the music, the atmosphere, the human ghosts. But the fact that they never gave you a clue to exactly happened in there. It was like a good mystery/horror story that never made it past the first chapter.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!
It's fine by me...
