In that it resists all of them, yes.
I think that might be a bit unfair to make as the first gym.
Oh God! Natural light!I like how Hoenn and Sinnoh handle the first gym by having all the starters have access to super effective STAB to counter the gym's typing.
"Strategy? Spacing? I just keep punching until I hit something." - Sol BadguyFor starters (not the starter pokemon), have no fighting type specialists in the region. Literally every generation had them, and we're sick of them.
For the first gym leader, I have the idea of being type-less (like Viridian's in Gen II), with four Pokemon, three of each starter type, and one small Dragon type.

here's a realization
if s/m's gaiden game does have gyms in it
who's to bet that nanu'll turn down the position and deny us the proper dark gym we all been screaming about
And then there was silenceI'm not sick of fighting-type specialists, therefore you are wrong.
How about "more diversity on type specialists"? Then again, Gen VII had specialists of all types but Ice, so they are on the right track.
You can have diversity without explicity pissing on somebody else's parade, you know.
How many Gyms are being built in Alola? Is it the full eight? I can't remember where all the construction sites are.
Heart of StoneMore double/triples/rotation battles would be fun and a good change of pace ever now and then,
OK, a quick search through the game and I found construction sites in Hau'oli City, Heahea City, Royal Avenue, Konikoni City, Malie City, Seafolk Village
Heart of Stonei'd like for more significant bosses to be double battles
like the only double battle gym in the whole series was tate and liza for pete's sake, totem mons shown us how scary the AI is when they have a partner
And then there was silenceedited 21st Mar '17 10:25:58 AM by Chariot
Except the game is full of Area of Effect moves and the Doubles meta is a whole lot faster than singles.
On average battles would go much faster.
you don't have to beat them both in one round man
i will say i dont get the hype on triple battles i think they're bland and unintuitive as hell

And then there was silenceWell Dark and Steel types were implied to be recent as well, and that didn't last.
Also, Mega evolution was originally implied to be unique to Kalos as well, until the Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire alternate universe retcon.
I'm pretty sure Z moves being unique will be ignored later on.
And even if Mega Evolutions due remain a recent discovery and Z Moves remain unique to Alola, the fact that the bond between a trainer and Pokemon (which is how it's likely going to be played from now on) can grant a pokemon a new form or a new super move shows that there may be more to things than he originally thought.
Or at least that's how I see it.
One Strip! One Strip! If I had to choose, I'd pick Triple Battles making a return over Rotation Battles any day.
I can agree. I don't like to rotate my Pokémon every turn cause the opponent also rotated theirs
I never post, but if you're reading this... I wish you good luck on life.I just want Triples back, period.
Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*Happiny was introduced in Gen 4.
I learned never to let a Volcarona set up like this. It was my doom once.
Edit: being effectively able to stop it is an entirely different thing, though...

... And that's called jazz!x3: Are you running Bright Powder or something on Volcarona? I'm wondering how Shadow Claw missed, and that's the only thing I can think of.
As for why that Garchomp even had Shadow Claw at all, or went for it over STAB Earthquake, I assume the answer is "lower ladder."

Icon by Civvi the Civilian!Yeah I used Brightpowder. Changed to a Charti berry as it's intention was to delay rock moves from killing her anyway.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.
I always liked the idea of Dragon being the first Gym, since it's similar to Normal in that there's no bias one way or another towards any of the starters.
