Yeah, Zard X's design is a bit chuuni, but we can use a few mons like that. I feel like Zard Y's design looks better on paper than in-game, though
Topic of type changes:
Yanmega. Bug / Dragon. Dragonfly!
Sounds like a reasonable type change, right?

Not really since that pun only works in English, and is a pun.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! They've used English puns internationally before, though.
@ Mega Zard discussion: I don't think there should be two, but at least the two we got are both pretty cool.
I sure said that! They also generally don't decide a type for the sake of a pun, though.
Aside from Mega Ampharos.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! If the pun is Dragonfly shouldn't it be Dragon/Flying?
Non Indicative UsernameWe already have five of those though.

"Strategy? Spacing? I just keep punching until I hit something." - Sol BadguyThat's irrelevant to the pun.
Non Indicative UsernameSpeaking of Mega Charizard, which Mewtwo form do you preferred? Is it X or Y?
... Hello, anyone?
I prefer Y. It can be a mixed attacker without wasting EV on Attack.

Non Indicative UsernameYou see, Yanmega is a bug, and dragonflies are bugs. Yanmega being part of the Gen 4 evolutionary line expansion trend, hence Game Freak missed an opportunity for a type pun.
But a Bug/Dragon dragonfly later on probably will happen eventually.
And I prefer Mewtwo X to use, but I like Y's look more.

Flygon has Dragon typing. Game Freak did the Dragonfly=Dragon before.
Non Indicative UsernameIt's name is even the same internationally, so... yeah. There you go. Fly + dragon. Two English words.
Except Flygon isn't a dragonfly.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I like Megazard X over Y. Megazard Y follows the dumb Mega trend of "same but bigger with frills and spikes!" Megazard X visually looks more distinct, and its colors are badass.
Manetric still wins worst mega design though.
Yeah, I like Mega Charizard X better too.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!Whereas I feel like Mega Zard Y is a much more natural extension on Charizard's concepts both mechanically and visually.
I sure said that!I like both Zards because of the fusion of concept and function. Y seems like an extension of what Charizard is. Master of the sky and of the sun. That's represented by keeping the same typing, general stat spread, and sun related abilities. X however is taking Charizard in a new direction. It's more grounded, more edgy yes, but it is a design that focus on the fire and draconic elements more than Y's sky elements. It feels like it's supposed to be a departure from what it once was, the Politoed to Y's Poliwrath so to speak (I appreciate the irony of that simile).
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I always thought that it could be viewed that Charizard Y is the logical conclusion to Charizard's Flying typing, whereas Charizard X is the logical conclusion to its Fire typing.
Then I realized that Charizard Y hits like a hydrogen bomb with Fire Blast and has no usable Flying type STAB to speak of.
So.... yeah, I agree with Pulse.

what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseI'm firmly in the camp of preferring Megazard X.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Isn't Air Slash usable enough?
Air Slash is pretty piss weak for a STAB.
Generally, for a Glass Cannon like Zard Y, you want as high-powered moves as possible to score as many OHK Os as possible before you get K Od yourself. You want something at least 90 BP on a pokemon like Zard Y and Air Slash falls far short of that.
Plus, Air Slash doesn't hit much for super-effective damage that Fire Blast doesn't.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseDidn't know you were talking exclusive to competitive battles rather than both, my bad.
I like Zard Y's design more, but that isn't to say I dislike Zard X at all. It's really fun to use, and that's all I want out of a Mega Evolution.
As for Pokemon whose type I'd change...I can't think of any that haven't already been mentioned. I'd probably make Goodra a Dragon/Poison type and give it Regenerator, though.
