I like that Team Rocket is just a band of thugs doing what they can to make money rather than some cliche destroy/conquer the world plot, myself. I'd like to see the next generation go for a relatively street-level and personal plotline like that rather than something grandiose.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I'd be down for that. How about Pokemon Noir?
if we don't know someone we can empathize with their suffering but we aren't going to be super invested in them or care about it too deeply. we care about people we know. that's just basic human nature.
if you want proof of what i'm saying, just look at cinema. a lot of great films are about small, personal character dramas, and still have a lot more weight than vapid action blockbusters about saving worlds or countries.
"saving the world" does not give your stories weight. having a good and well-executed story with good characters is what gives your stories weight.
any problem that team rocket has is more related to there not being distinct individual members in first gen outside of Giovanni and the general writing in Pokemon not being that engaging. it has nothing to do with their threat level.

Mon idea. Special oriented Ghost/Rock with Technician as its ability. Movepool contains Nasty Plot/Calm Mind, Ominous Wind and Ancient Power for special STAB and coverage moves.
"Strategy? Spacing? I just keep punching until I hit something." - Sol Badguytoo late already doing it
it's adorably cheesy and i can't be mad at it despite its lack of quality
tbh the first movie actually is decent provided you're watching it subbed.
the dub destroyed mewtwo's characterization and shoehorned a terrible "fighting is bad" aesop.
the third movie's alright too.
that's about all the good i have to say regarding the anime.
I actually really the 3rd movie. It's actually pretty decent by normal standards and fucking amazing realtive to the rest of the Pokemon movies.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?yeah it's cool. i watched it not too long ago and the psychological spin of the movie and entei's character made up for how dull the human cast sans Molly is.
It's also the only movie where Ash's presence seems justified without having any Chosen One bullshit. Soundtrack's pretty good, too.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? The Zoroark movie is awesome. I've heard that the Hoopa movie is actually pretty good.
ditto on the third movie, it's about the only one i like outside of just the nostalgia factor
I remember being vaguely fond of the fourth one as well but that may just be that I was familiar enough with the Pokemon games by then that I was proud I could actually start identifying Pokemon before they said their names, and I haven't watched it recently.

The fourth movie is great because it has Dark Balls, evil kaiju Celebi and young time-travelled Professor Oak.
The 4th had some interesting ideas but was just bad overall. The villain was bland (though voiced by Dan Green, which automatically prevents the film from being terrible) and it ended in a bullshit Deus ex Machina.
Also the badly placed CGI. It worked in 3's favor because the Unown are meant it be otherworldly, but it just looked horrible and obvious in 4.
I cannot spell tonight. I should sleep.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? But, but, young time-travelled Professor Oak!
Theoretical Pokemon:
Appearence: a starving, bipedal moose with fangs and claws
Ice/Ghost
Bulletproof

Comments!
Regarding theme and appearance: Seems like a boring idea, however, nothing that I can't imagine it as a skeletal or zombie-like undead Pokemon without increasing the game's rating, you don't really have much of a choice in Pokemon design with regards to this guy. A moose is also not necessarily an animal something people would think about when it comes to speed.
Also, Bulletproof? Maybe you are thinking it'd be a bullet-resistant Wendigo or Zombie or something, but otherwise I can't see how it applies to a rotting moose.
If yer trying to make a Pokemon version of the Until Dawn Wendigo, wouldn't Ice/Ghost or Dark/Ghost be more thematically fitting? In addition, none of those two type combinations have a physical sweeper yet!

Regarding competitive: Now this guy, this guy is what Weavile could've been. Sure, its special defense is garbage, but who uses Vacuum Wave anyway? It's also reasonably resistant to physical-type priority (read: most priority) but the 4x weakness to fighting would probably still get it one-shot by Mach Punch regardless.
I think this guy can fill a good niche in the OU metagame. What we need there is a good Grass/Dark. All of the Grass/Darks we currently have are trash. I think this guy should be Grass/Dark instead. STAB Horn Leech and Knock Off are really scary especially with decent defenses, while fitting a moose thematically. It also solves the Steel and Fighting priority weakness (only sorta for the latter). Sure it gains an Ice Shard weakness, but...
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!Ghost is much more fitting than Dark, thanks!

Way late to the party, but I wanted to say I friggin love Platinum. Probably among my fave two or three Pokemon games.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Regarding there not being any good Grass/Dark Types:
Mega Shiftry
Dark/Grass
Gale Wings
90/110/70/130/70/110
Why Gale Wings? IIRC he already has Chlorophyll on base form, might as well make him a sun sweeper. God knows we need a decent one.
Really I just want a weather abusing Mega who can set it up in base form. Sand Rush/Force Mega Hippowdon or Tyranitar, Solar Power Mega Ninetales, Hydration Mega Politoed, nothing on hail because hail sucks balls.
It has Gale Wings because Shiftry has always had an affinity with the wind being a Tengu and because its movepool contains: Hurricane, Tailwind, Aerial Ace (I guess...), Defog, and Bounce (pseudo-Protect into decent physical attack with priority).

Gale wings Hurricane sounds good. I mean yeah it doesn't have much variety but you have to remember that the only pokemon with Gale Wings is all about being the bravest bird possible
And then there was silence
Yeah, obviously, Superman is at his best when his human qualities are emphasised. But I tend to care more when he's saving a plane full of passengers than when he's stopping a mugging.
