Metal Claw is an interesting low-power option since it is like something between Rock Smash and Power-up Punch with that 50% chance to boost Attack.

I just found that you can find Celebi, Jirachi, and Diancie on the GTS. It seems that hackers have found a way to put event mons that can legally have the blue pentagon on the GTS. Also, most of the ones on there are nicknamed "FUCK YOU".

Earliest Everstone is in Granite Cave right? I'm going to give it to Torchic so he doesn't evolve until after he learns Flamethrower.

I think you can just get the TM multiple times from the game corner.

And it's in the cave on the funny colored rock

Oh really when?

Oh that's right Flamethrower is a TM again. I forgot because it was a Move Tutor move in Crystal and I last had it on my Mewtwo.

Of course, it'll be pricy to get, but hey.

I usually just let it evolve normally and let it learn Blaze Kick.

I sure said that!

Blaze Kick is inferior to Flamethrower in every way that matters:

  • Uses
  • Accuracy
  • Power

I learned that the hard way.

Oh yeah, special and physical thing isn't in Emerald. Which is dumb.

It has its perks, too. Some Pokémon were rendered useless by the physical/special split.

Also, Dark types with high attack and Shadow Ball.

Does anyone here know anything about romhacks? I know I've asked this fifty times, but any help would be appreciated.

Honestly, the physical/special split only hurt a few Pokemon, such as Alakazam losing the elemental punches and some physical Normal types losing Shadow Ball. I don't think any Pokemon was rendered USELESS by it. Gen IV also introduced a ton of moves such as Zen Headbutt, Bug Buzz, Earth Power, Shadow Claw, and Dark Pulse to help diversify the newly-split physical and special ends of each type.

Seriously- The biggest hit was... I dunno, maybe the Gen III Ghosts losing Shadow Ball for physical STAB and being left with Shadow Claw for Banette and Shadow Punch/Shadow Sneak for Duscolps/Dusknoir.

As for the whole Flamethrower-Blaze Kick thing in Emerald- The issue is that Torchic is going to fall behind as it learns Flamethrower, whereas settling for Blaze Kick at evolution means it will be pulling its weight the entire game. Flamethrower is better, but only a little.

You can always just replace Blaze Kick with Flamethrower as you get the TM.

Flamethrower's pretty easy to get, anyway.

(And I'm always here to trade if it's on an emulator.)

I kept them both, mostly because Blaze Kick has a boosted crit rate. I also have Brick Break and Slash.

It does? I don't remember a boosted crit rate.

It has a Slash-level crit rate.

It, along with Leaf Blade, stand out for having a boosted crit rate despite not being a 70 BP/ 100 acc Slash clone or a 100 BP/less-than-100 acc Cross Chop clone.

First thing I do when I get to the Game Corner is get the coins for Flamethrower. After that, I'll just keep Black Kick when I get it as a back up move.

It's TM number 35 if my memory is correct. Game corner be in Mauville so you still got a ways. Hell you'll probably get flamethrower before you even have a Blaziken.

Fighting type vote thing.

Maybe it has something to do with Pokken? I doubt it, but I'm glad to see Mienshao wrecking Meloetta anyway. Not so happy to see how Mienfoo's doing, but it is up against one of the ensemble darkhorses of Gen 5.

And wow.... A ton of backlash against Lucario and Riolu. Lucario's at 8% against Toxicroak.!

But against arguably the third biggest Pokemon behind Pikachu and Charizard? And to that degree?
