People want them and the originals are unavailable. That is need enough as far as I am concerned.
...Wait what Demon?

Saiga: But there is a definite want for them.
The Demon is Wario
Anyway, I do like the idea of being able to customize your trainer (Though I do think that's more suited to a theoretical Stadium 3. Battle Revolution had fairly decent customization, more detail due to 3D models, AND the ability to show off your creation in online battles.). I can't say I like the idea of non-Gym story progression though.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! That's not need.
I'm not disputing that. I wouldn't mind them myself, although I'm not fond of the remake cycle continuing perpetually.

Well, in my mind, significant desire from the fanbase is reason enough.
x3
You would still be able to advance via Gym. You would just have other options to advance as well like say Contest or Pokeathelon.

Yeah, I understood, I just felt it would break the story in two.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I do not understand what you mean. Explain please?
I recognize that they could use the Dream World and events to fill in those missing spots in the Dex, but that sounds kinda lame to me. (That, and to my understanding DW-wise there are still some Pokemon that lack sprites.)
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Being able to progress via non-battling just feels like it defeats the point of the game. How do you get badges and the like, or experience to face the E4 with? Not to mention the tendency for story events to be linked to the gym challenge, such as after you clear Lenora's or Brycen's gym.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Agreed 100%.
The Gyms are sort of like bosses, going around them would basically just be like advancing the game without having to take on the bosses.

Well if you choose not to advance via Gym then instead they could do something similar to the Grand Festival from the anime for people who decide to advance via Contest or what have you. And maybe they could have said events be triggered in some other way.

Why would you want a remake when you already have the game?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMI didn't even try to understand that logic.
Mine or Chariot's?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMBecause remakes tend to add onto the original. And because some people like owning both. This is not a hard concept to understand.

Because they add lots of new stuff, it's fun to play through the old story with new, modern touch-ups, it feels more complete and up-to-date, I could go on.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Chariot's. We were talking about the games being hard to obtain making remakes necessary, and that went off on a completely unrelated tangent. Of course I wasn't talking about people who already own the game when I said to buy the originals.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMNot the first time people have mistaken me for a girl on here. Doubt it will be the last.
Well, it'd be less confusing if people didn't pick avatars of the opposite gender to their real ones.
Maybe Tv Tropes needs to add Gender Symbols, as in those ones next to Pokemon names (I don't know what they are called, hence the Pokemon reference).

...I wonder if I'm seen as a hideous tentacled shellfish.
Anyway, Gamefreak's goal is to make money, like any company, but they're pretty good at pandering to the fans and doing things that have no real financial gain for them, like adding in new moves that only really apply to the metagame, putting more focus on the story, ect. At this point nothing they do is really going to make them MORE money than they would make without new stuff since the series is already such a cash cow, but it is nice they pander to the fans a little.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! They add metagame moves for their tournaments, which are held to promote more people playing the game with each other and making it more popular.
So it pretty much is a money thing.
Yeah, but nobody is going to say "Oh, hey! They added in [insert move here]! Insta-buy!" The metagamers will buy the game anyway, if not to just have fun with the new game, than to take advantage of new Pokemon at least. Moves aren't marketed, and so the more metagame-oriented moves exist solely to be a nice little addition.
Except when they're named Stealth Rock and ruin the metagame.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
@Yamii Hey, I'd agree. It's not like we need new Gens either.
Holy crap, the Demon is awesome. Super hyped for BW2 now.
@Chariot No, it's completely true. There's absolutely no need for them.
