Never assembled a Mitch full-stop.
I do like those WWII-era gunships, though. In many cases it was just a question of "how big a gun can we fit to this airframe?" Hs-129 won the prize for that one, I think.
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.Yup, it tied for the lead I think. It mounted a BK 7.5 75mm Pa K 40 cannon (source http://www.luft46.com/mess/mep10199.html), as did the Junkers Ju-88.
The Mitchell had at least two variant mounting the American equivalent(source http://forum.armyairforces.com/Looking-for-B25G-and-B25H-75mm-cannon-rates-of-fire-m182591.aspx)
There is a photo on that site of a Mitchell with one of those cannons with a muzzle that looks like the Clyde Tunnel.
Search after two RAF jets crashed in Moray Firth: Two Tornado GR 4, it appears.
Keep Rolling OnJust got home. So...damn...tired.
I suspect the weather was a major factor. The fog was so thick today you could cut lumps out of it.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to pass out.

Who watches the watchmen?Take care, bud.
My sheet of swastikas arrived today. It came with a lengthy disclaimer that the model shop was in no way affiliated with the Nazi regime, amusingly enough.
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.Craziness.
'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'Jesus, the Airfix Me-262 canopy is bigger than the proverbial Xbox.
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.Time to go to that Ebay site then, aye?
Recent Sighting:
- I was near Farnborough yesterday — the Airshow is going to be on soon — and there was an aircraft doing a display. Looking online afterwards, I think it was a Yak-130 trainer.
- Today:
- Three Chinooks in formation. A single Chinook leading, with two behind;
- One Eurofighter Typhoon, heading South — I'm almost certain it was, as it certainly looked like one from below.
That's it so far, but with the Airshow coming up, things might get interesting...
Keep Rolling OnSo, from the Chieftain over at World Of Tanks, A bunch of airplanes (and some trains) in their bicentennial paint schemes because it seems that the Army really isn't much for doing up their machines in flashy patriotic schemes. Figured you guys would appreciate it.
The piccies of the F4 and the F117 were awesome, thanks.
Btw, when do the people who know about these things think that the Tornado bombers will be back flying after that tragedy this week?
Give it a couple of weeks. This was almost certainly pilot error (as much as I hate that phrase, it is occasionally accurate) due to poor weather conditions.
'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'And sheer bad luck, too — something we tend to want to write out of the analysis of incidents (because it's too easy to write off fixable problems as "bad luck") but is still the case in things like that. Even with all the Tornado's gear, low level flying in bad weather is still going to be risky as hell even with one plane, let alone two that can collide.
A brighter future for a darker age.In other news rather then blowing massive wads of cash on new machines and really expensive upgrades the army is trying something new for their Helo Pilots. Air Soldier System A.S.S. Lol. Basically they are improving the pilots gear and comm abilities but instead of building it into the machines they are makign them pieces of gear they can issue to the pilots.
Who watches the watchmen?Hope this works but it looks like several pieces of kit that weigh the same as the average dwarf stars.
Interesting talk, everyone.
I'm sad to hear about the Tornadoes, but these sorts of things happen. I have to concur that it was probably pilot error, though.
Also, am I the only one who's a bit sceptical about the "ASS" (heh, nice one!) as Tuefel put it?
Locking you up on radar since '09I would put the Air Soldier System as a 50/50 shot.
Who watches the watchmen? At least one of the crews had a trainee pilot.
Anymore news on thos Tornadoes? Or was this pilots being a bit too reckless like with the Fairchild AFB B-52 G/H crash.

Who watches the watchmen?I don't think many people have been quite as reckless as the pilot of the B-52 in the Fairchild crash.
A brighter future for a darker age.Christ, that idiot shouldn't have been let near a Cessna, let alone a fucking heavy bomber.
Jesus...

Ever do one of the solid-nose gunship versions of the B-25 Mitchell?
