I think that Chris X and Hazzy Haz are being a bit hypocritical here. They're complaining about Lore fans who swoop down on fellow fans who were okay with the Lore changes and silence those who dissent. And yet, they're doing the same exact thing to people who think the Lore changes were the wrong way to go. It's all qute distressing.

I don't think the lore changes are necessarily bad, just some of them seem a bit confusing and strange and, well, we're not sure where its going because we don't know what is planned.

Like, I like the Cass change since it makes more sense; why would a Norse-Based Culture have a spell/curse for a rather Egyptian looking horror? But, why change Skarner? In fact, I think it would have been better if Skarner had been protecting the tomb of Xerath and Renekton who escaped after Cass and Sivir defeated him. It would integrate him into the story there a bit. Who knows where Ammumu is going though. More tragedy for Azir maybe?

Ahem... After Azir was killed in his Ascension, his youngest son was forced into a throne he wasn't ready for and the great kingdom his father had built crumbled under a leader who was too young.

That sounds pretty good.

I'm just cautious about how far this might be going.

I'm not complaining about people 'silencing' me. I don't care if you try to silence me.

I just think the people doing all the complaints tend to be edgy teenagers trying their best to hop the 'Rito is a bunch of fuckups' circlejerk, same with the CLG fines debacle recently. I mean, who looks at the Braum, Gnar, and Yasuo teases and lores, and say "yup, this is a disturbing trend that points to riot deciding to choke out lore, how terrible!"

Given that they got rid of the Journal of Justice for unclear reasons, then retconned out the League without doing anything interesting with its removal, and then reduced some champions' bios to a few sentences, it's not surprising at all.

Then the lore stands still for over a year and nothing happens, so the moment they try doing things it's "No, fuck off, we want things to be the exact same as it was!"

And they haven't offered any alternatives to removing the Institute of War because they haven't actually done so yet; they are just planning on doing it.

It's like when Marvel says that they're going to do a female Thor and a black Captain America, it's not like suddenly Thor is female and Captain America was actually a black guy from Harlem all along. They're still building up the storylines that lead to these events happening.

They got rid of it less than a year ago. It stopped updating three years ago.

One of the Lore writers explicitly stated in the forum about the change that the Institute of War would be retconned away, its dissolution would not be part of the story as it never existed. This struck me as a very lazy way of handling things.

Agreed. However, I can't blame them for getting rid of it as it was becoming more of an obstacle for more interesting plots. Because it leads to EVERYTHING hinging on League Matches that will never happen and plots that will never get furthered.

Getting rid of it opens the door for plots to get furthered at least.

There isn't an alternative to it now because it hasn't actually happened yet. You really think they're going to do a lore shakedown like that and only mention it on some forum post? Shit would make the front page on their website.

Well, sorry if I'm being hypocritical here. But... I've been in the Lo L official Lore forums, and all I've heard was people saying 'Riot sucks', 'Where are the long-ass descriptions', 'Why Institute of War and Summoners make the story, without them there won't be a story'. And if people are being chill on Riot's change and say things like "Give it time"... they will be silenced and claimed to have no taste in what a 'good story' means. They bemean us people who are chill and accepting and supporting to Riot. Not everyone started on Lo L during the time when Jo J, Io W and stuffs like that were the big thing, and they demand that we put all those on holy grail-like level. Like Hazzy said, it's like "People jumps on the bandwagon of 'Riot is a jerk that never listens to fans'." And it's pretty much enough to disillusion me to those people in that forum.

But for the record, I never had the intention to whine on you guys here in TV Tropes, in fact, I think you're a lot more chill than them. I'm sure you have your own doubts on how Riot takes the lore, but at the very least, you are not shoving them to anyone else's mouth or complain at everything that doesn't look like 'Old Lo L'. What I usually refer as those 'lore fans' are those who reside in the Lo L official Lore forums. Not here. Pretty sure Hazzy also meant the same.

Well, just trying to make that clear. I hope I'm not offending anyone here.

I know there isn't an alternative yet. But, considering the timeline for some of these things has been rather awkward; Jo J was ended years ago with the word that League was taking new Lore directions and nothing really big happened until this past year.

Maybe it would have been easier to save saying anything until the substitute was proper and ready so that there could be a simple switch? Less fighting that way?

Like... You're having dinner. You have a delicious appetizer set in front of you. However, you're waiter takes the appetizer from your table saying that your food will be out soon, but now you're stuck waiting for food that hasn't arrived yet and that appetizer made you're mouth water a lot so your hungry for more.

Wouldn't it make the situation easier to leave the appetizer there until the main course is ready and take the appetizer away when you deliver the main course?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. That they're actually communicating on this suggests they've finally found a path to go through, even if it's a controversial one.

This forum has taken an upleasant tone lately. people still cling to the joj no matter how dorky it was because for those many years rito gave only gave tiny scraps of lore. I was kind of distressed when riot threw out all the old lore because guven their track record, the lire would be stuck in limbo for potentially years befire being dropped agian.

The first video was pretty meh, the second video was actually pretty interesting. So long as riot keeps releasling new lore instead of keeping everything locked up while thinking, "if only you guys knew about all this awesome lore we won,t share with you." I don't mind the new direction so long as the lore doesn't take another giant haitusleaving champs like sona, fiddles, ect. stuck in limbo.

This forum is still pretty tame, when compared to the Lo L official lore forum. I think Hazzy has been there, that's probably why he's so cynical about it.

Azir is weird. But amusing. I wonder how much I enjoy him is because no one knows how to play against him or if he is actually enjoyable.

I'm still not sure how to counter him exactly. I mean, it seems more like no one exactly directly counters him. I'd say someone with high mobility like Kat might, but a good Azir should be able to escape quickly too so... ???

The answer is to assassinate him. He doesn't do very well with sudden all-ins. Anyone with blink/teleport abilities will do it well. Multiple blinks even better because he might bounce you with the wall and then you can be right on top of him.

He's squishy as fuck.

Like most emperors.

I generally feel like, after a game as him, he has a similar fault to Darius.

He snowballs. VERY quickly. Even though my Jungle Xin took two kills on the Xerath in my lane (how awkward right?) I had nearly 20 kills at about 30 mins and was level 18 or something with nearly a full build... While everyone else on my team was still level 13/14.

Which leads into the main issue of, he takes kills. a lot. and very easily. I kept taking a ton of kills I should have taken because of aa and my team suffered for it.

I think another bothersome issue is his range for playing as him. The screen isn't big enough to encompass his full range. I wish I could zoom out even more because of it. And I'm a player that plays with a locked screen; I've tried unlocked and the camera just moves too much and I end up focusing more on trying to not move the camera than actually playing and I usually die. But even unlocked, the range to screen ratio must be incredibly annoying, right?

People... play... with... a locked screen? How quaint.

Also, finished my season 4 placements. Now I must undergo a fast training montage to carry myself to gold.

(Or more realistically get carried.)
