I hear APC are great cost/benefit-wise for obstruction of all kinds.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Military grade aluminium isn't all that survivable in a modern urban warfare environment..
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotUrban conflict in general is a nightmare.

Interesting article on ISOF small arms.
Still looking for info on any potential manufacturer on Chinese-made BTR-40/152s.

US sets up missile defense in South Korea as North shows power
SEOUL, South Korea — In a defiant bit of timing, South Korea announced Wednesday that key parts of a contentious U.S. missile defense system had been installed a day after rival North Korea showed off its military power.
The South's trumpeting of progress on setting up the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense system, or THAAD, comes as high-powered U.S. military assets converge on the Korean Peninsula and as a combative North Korea signals possible nuclear and missile testing.
North Korea conducted live-fire artillery drills on Tuesday, the 85th anniversary of the founding of its million-person strong Korean People's Army. On the same day, a U.S. guided-missile submarine docked in South Korea, and the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier is headed toward the peninsula for a joint exercise with South Korea.
The photo in the article is for the THAAD command post truck. When I was a 14J, I worked on the PATRIOT version of that truck.
The first trucks were a photo op: two launchers. The rest of the battery arrived: the radar is 5 trailers (3 pieces and 2 power plant units), the fire control vans, the command post truck and all the logistical trucks (varies).
Fun fact - air defense units have their own cooks. Usually an infantry, military police or armor units have all the cooks in the headquarters unit. Since air defence units can be far from the "home" HQ battery, they get their own cooks.
THAAD is unique that the medics, mechanics (including the rare mechanic warrant officer) and fuelers are all assigned to the battery. Total strength is about ~100 soldiers.
All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be on The First 48I took my first PT test since being assigned to this unit. So I did:
- 59 push ups in 2 minutes
- 68 push ups in 2 minutes
- Ran 2 miles in 13 min and 4 sec.
So that gives me about 260 out of 300, making me among top 10 highest scorers in my unit. Eventually, I'm going to be da strongest.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. You wanna be, the very best, like no one ever was.
According to the Greek National Defense General Staff, Turkish fighter jets violated Greek national airspace 71 times, resulting in four dogfights. Nobody got shot down though.

Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleMan the Turks are being huge dicks all of a sudden. Taking hints from Vlad?
Who watches the watchmen? That's a strange definition of "dogfight", isn't it? At any point were weapons seriously about to be cleared to fire, let alone actually fired? This sounds like the typical stuff Russia pulls on everyone frequently, except its two countries that are nominally allies here.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Greece and Turkey have never gotten along terribly well. It's the reason Greece maintains a large, relatively modern navy.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.Went to my first military wedding, this week. Never seen so many officers buzzed at one time.
New Survey coming this weekend!
Math: True but it has been a while since they have been so antagonistic towards each other.
Who watches the watchmen?x4
A dogfight can simply be a (relatively) close range chase as well, trying to get a weapons lock. I don't know about the Greeks, but fighters are generally cleared to fire at their own leisure, after a hostile has travelled a certain distance within the ADIZ.
The Turks invade Greek airspace pretty much every day, so there are probably some informal rules in place.

Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleWhy so obnoxious?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Too much history between the two.
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleErdogan flipping his shit probably isn't helping either.
Disgusted, but not surprisedAlso Erdogan's military is made of Styrofoam and bits of string so he needs to look like a hardass.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.Don't forget all those officers in exile.
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleWith this happening relatively often, I'm amusing myself with the pilots themselves doing this as an informal social thing, taking turns chasing each other around and quoting Top Gun at each other.
Hmmmm. Wonder how the point system works... Also, who's on the judging panel. Because Armenians and Romanians are bloody Tartars when it comes to technical difficulty points.

Wang Yi made his speech at the UNSC today.
Summary:
He insists on a dual system of easing the problem with North Korea by ending tests on nukes and ending military exercises in South Korea and get rid of THAAD to ensure mutual trust is present.
He also said don't depend on China all the time.

New Survey coming this weekend!
In other words, "don't do anything". Cute.

I guess armor isn't really meant for urban warfare.
Disgusted, but not surprised
