Dragon Ball Z Abridged

Because this thread detours from discussing the abridged series a lot. I don't think the "well the abridged series is based off of Dragonball so naturally that gravitates into the discussion" excuse holds up anymore if you look back over the last 20-50 pages. There might as well not even be two threads.

I doubt anyone actually cares but seeing someone go, "wait, don't we have another thread for this" was kind of funny.

Just because the thread has hat OT discussions in the past doesn't mean we should encourage more.

Not actively encouraging and not actively discouraging still results in the bulk of discussion here being off-topic.

It's not that hard to just take discussion over to a different thread. Sword Art, Hellsing, and Bleach have done it and those abridged series update even less than this one does.

You say that like it's a good thing. If people don't want to talk about DBZA here, they should go somewhere else.

Other derails at least usually relate to content that they could realistically get to. Super, if by some miracle they do get to it, probably won't be several years. It just has no relevance to Abridged.

I think it's the difference between derails happening organically versus just flat-out raising a derailing question. This conversation started with a question about Super being asked out of nowhere. Usually, when the thread derails, it goes something like:

• Talking about the Abridged.
• Crack about what Beerus would think about XYZ joke.
• Brief discussion of the different versions of Beerus between movie and Super.
• Someone asks a question about something that someone said about the Tournament of Power.
• Prolonged discussion of the Tournament of Power.

I feel like I'm weird for liking the Super derails even though I haven't, and probably will not, see Super. Those derails are basically how I hear about it.

Not like there's anything else going on here.

Also that. If the options are "Super derail" and "literally nothing" I would prefer the Super Derail, personally.

Then maybe check out the actual Dragonball thread?

Or like, just talk about something on topic. Discussion doesn't just have to cover the latest episode, or waiting on new ones.

What's there to talk about? Chi-Chi's characterization? The off-color gay/rape jokes made early on in the series that the creators themselves aren't proud of? The scouter that mysteriously appeared on Bulma's face that became a running joke during the anniversary live stream?

I'm honestly not sure why that happen...but the text crawl probsly caused it.

Like, we've beaten the bad Goku dad jokes to death so badly that Kaiser has outright said they're a writing mistake.

Between Super Derail and Literally Nothing, I'd pick Literally Nothing. Super derails make me want to quit this thread. If they continue, I will.

There's no reason this thread has to be active all the time. If there's nothing to say about DBZA, there's nothing to say about DBZA.

I mean, I know you're referencing that one joke during Abridged Cell Saga (which I'm pretty sure they realized was in poor taste and tried to do damage control), but just don't.

I'd rather we just make fun of Yamcha...or you know what, why not make fun of Tien. No one does that.
