My God, have I actually made Kira Kira popular!?

I'm seeding it at least. Also, do you know how to use IRC? That's how I get most of my visual novels, and it's really fast. I got Clannad in an hour, to give an example.

It will take some time to try this, I still haven't started Tears To Tiara, I'm still at the middle of Higurashi. By the way, here a nice guy updated its graphics to the PS 2 version's level, that is less ugly. I hope his download links are still active.

So I was watching Genshiken recently, and I came across this◊ in episode 2 of the first season, at exactly 6:02 into the episode, including the OP. I think it's the first reference to that series that I've ever seen in an anime.

Plus, many eroge V Ns have non-ero patches, such as Fate Stay Night and Tsukihime, as well as whole versions without sex.

Ever 17 is great, and completely clean. Also, Clannad.

^^ All I've played is part of Fate Stay Night. The ero scenes were a big turn-off for me, but I didn't really like the rest of the game either.

^ Huh, Ever 17 looks interesting. Wait a second. The trope page says Downer Ending. I don't want a Downer Ending.

J-just play it. It all makes sense. Ever17 is just plain amazing.

Though then again, did you just play the Fate route of F/SN? 'Cause it's not exactly the best. UBW and Heaven's Feel are much, much better.

I played the fate route and a good chunk of UBW. The story is awesome, but the whole game just has a feel to it that gives me the jeebies. I can't really explain it.

CDRW: Don't trust the trope page. Ever17 is... unique. Yeah, unique. Also, Kira Kira. I picked that up a few months ago but for some reason I never finished it. I really like it, but after finishing Chie's route and getting halfway through the next I suddenly lost interest.

By the way, anyone know how I can get Symphonic Rain to work? There's no text when I try to play it and the fixes I found online didn't help much. And by much I mean any, really.

Also: FSN ero scenes? The first one in the game is absolutely hilariously bad. You can tell the translators tried to make the second one less awful, which just made it incredibly bland. Where are my schlick schlick sound effects and references to boiled bottoms?

Edit: Question. Can someone who's played Phantom Of Inferno tell me if it's any good? The last Nitroplus game I played (Chaos Head) I absolutely hated.

I guess I could give ever 17 a try. The opening on youtube was kind of interesting. I just want to make sure, it's not an ero game right? I really don't want an ero game. Also, is it difficult to set up?

There's no adult content and it's already in english, so you don't even need a patch. Easy set up.

Naturally, doing Chie's route in Kira Kira would lead to dissatisfaction afterward. I think it may just be too awesome. Plus, Sarina's route is good, but honestly kind of boring unless you really, really like Sarina or her heaving bosom, and Kirari's route is also good, but not too good throughout Chapter 3 of it.

Yeah, that's kind of the problem. Chie was wonderful, but Sarina and Kirari were just sort of... okay. And if it's a late branching story, it makes me feel like I'm not really missing much if I don't pick it back up.

Just gonna Entry Pimp My Girlfriend Is The President (Osadai) 'cause it's hardcore awesomesauce. I played the demo, and it's hilarious. Here's the TLWiki entry for it and the demo can be easily downloaded from there. Note that to run Osadai, you have to set your non-Unicode language setting to Japanese, like many other visual novels.

The translation is almost complete (99%), so hopefully it's done soon. Awesomely enough, the game was released mid October of last year, and this is a rather long game, so that's really impressive.

Also, on the topic of Ever17, the translation of Never7 has begun, and Remember11 is pretty much done.

I've been watching both of those projects. I'm hoping that Putin's route won't have to go in for another round of editing considering they already decided to retranslate it once.

Has anyone here played Phantom Of Inferno? After Chaos Head, I'm not really sure I trust Nitroplus to make a VN that isn't terrible.

If you didn't like Chaos Head, you probably won't like Phantom Of Inferno much. It is quite a bit different, but it's definitely similar. I recommend you still check it out, though. You might like it, I dunno. I did, at least.

Well, I didn't like Chaos Head because it spent approximately 95% of the plot doing nothing interesting with a cool premise. Plus the lead was pretty annoying. Do those problems apply to Phantom of Inferno?

Kirari's my favourite character in Kira Kira but for some Reason, I think Sarina fits Shikanosuke the best out of the three girls. Well, I guess I should save judgement until I finish Chie's and Kirari's route.

So, I've got Ever 17 downloading and alchohol 52%. Anything else I need to make it work, or any potential problems I'll run into?

I think they're also sort-of working on 12Riven. Though from what I hear, Ever17 was the best of the VNs they made.
