I just realized something.
Jon Arryn's dying words of "The seed is strong." doesn't refer to Joffrey, it refers to SPOILERPADDING Aegon SPOILERPADDING.
The old coot figured out the plot of book five before GRRM did.
Hats off to Jon Arryn.
If you want any of my avatars, just Pm me I'd truly appreciate any avatar of a reptile sleeping in a Nice Hat Read Elmer Kelton booksI'm not seeing it.
ATC is being ironic, or mildly trolling.
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |I don't think Theon is getting married off to anyone. It's implied that he's joined team Varys, if you get my drift.
Oh yeah, the heir issue. Still think it's at least somewhat likely Stannis will marry Shireen to Devan (Davos' son I think) as a reward for his loyal service.
Tealove is best pony.Pony Fanon IndexGood point. Though he might've managed to keep it a secret. (I kinda hope so, because if that got out it only make him even more of a Butt-Monkey to the Ironborn).
Still, whatever else happens I'm imagining Asha getting him installed on the Seastone chair and ruling through him.
Okay so I got into this series in the beginning of the summer but I've avoided this thread because I figure there will be spoilers and I am avoiding those like the plague. I am breaking that rule this one time because I want to comment on something.
I've heard several references to "The Red Wedding" which apparently happens during A Storm of Swords which I am currently reading. I was curious about this but I never read what exactly it was because I wanted to be surprised although I assumed this was some kind of wham episode that would happen during Joffrey's wedding. Apparently I was mistaken because I just read the part that focuses on the Frey wedding.
Um...yeah. Wow. I shouldn't be surprised given what happened to Eddard but that was still quite a shock.
Joffrey's wedding is better than the Red Wedding.
Is there a single wedding in the books that doesn't end unhappily?

Song of the SirensAlys Karstark's and Sigurn's in ADWD left a relatively positive impression on me.
I'd actually rather go through the Red Wedding than be forced to marry Ramsay.
It was a difficult delivery, now it's growing up mean and strong. It's all a matter of perspective. Every wedding in the series ends happily for somebody, but they're also all bad for somebody else.

HOTAT IS THE KING OF BLAND.
Also, blah blah minor POVs suck blah.
It was a difficult delivery, now it's growing up mean and strong.Well, in a civil war, how could a wedding not end well for someone and badly for someone else? If it goes off without a hitch, it means (assuming it's a political marriage, as most of them are) two powerful parties are forming an alliance, which is good for them and bad for their enemies. If the church is hit by a meteorite, vice-versa.

Gurm claims to have finished 400 pages, aims to release around 2014.
I refer you to my previous post.
So what do they intend to do if the show reaches the last book before it comes out?
Put the show on hiatus, I imagine.
Let's see, going by current season trends....2014 will be airing the second half of A So S. 2015 and 2016 will be A Dw D. 2017 (and maybe 2018) will be T Wo W. So we've got till 2019.
Swordplay and writing blog. Purveyor of weeaboo fightin' magic. If Martin writes fast enough I guess it could work out. He'd pretty much have to release the next book in 2014 and the book after that no more than four years later though but that's probably doable.
edit: Of course if he splits another book up this will all be shot to hell.

And hasn't GRRM already told the show-folk how things'll go in case he dies? They might just go on ahead of the books.
It was a difficult delivery, now it's growing up mean and strong.Did he? That's funny since I thought he said to burn his notes if he died.
Maybe they insisted. Or maybe he was kidding when he said that. Or maybe for some reason he didn't want people carrying on the books, but doesn't mind if they carry on an adaptation.
2019 is generous... Especially since you left out AFFC...
I'd put it more towards 2021 as being when Game of Thrones catches up with the books...
One Stannis does care about Shireen a lot, but two I think that it's fairly likely he'd do it. Combine that with Theon's existence being able to upturn the landsmoot and the Manderlies willing to go to his side Stannis would suddenly has a very respectable navy.
