I actually started my own let's play of Detroit today. I had my gripes with some of the robot racism elements but at the same time I did like some of the details and topics brought up by the setting.

I won't lie. So far it looks pretty good. That hostage scene especially.

But will it last?

Matt does a Let's Play on Mario Kart 8 with a Japanese girl named Hitomi...... who happens to be a Porn Star.

I wonder how did he get her to play video games with him and this isn't some product placement for her...."work"?

First, there was a tech demo called Kara that came out between ""Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. It's neat, but it's clearly not in continuity with Detroit'' as we know it today.

So far the game is okay. They manage to do pretty decent world-building without being too in your face about it. I know what this future Detroit is like. And I know that, contrary to the Bingo card, the homeless do NOT like androids.

I expect that, as time goes by, it will be reveled that there's a virus or program or something going around giving androids emotions. That's what that one rogue android had that made him go crazy, and it's what Markus will catch that will cause him to lead a rebellion, and he will increase the size of his flock by downloading the emotion program into other androids.

I'm just waiting for the point where the plot takes a sharp 90 degree turn and launches itself into stupidity. I don't know what the cause of that will be, but I'm hoping for "Robirth." That is the dumbest plot point I think this game could possibly pull.

YTV is going to start airing episodes of Reboot: The Guardian Code on Monday. Pray for Woolie. He hasn't watched them yet, so there's a good chance he'll see them on the same channel Reboot originally aired all those years ago.

[up]That already aired on Netflix, and even freaking OSW Review was giving out about it during their Wrestlemania 34 review.

This is not going to end well.

I know it already- Oh. You must mean it aired on Netflix Canada. That I did not know.

I don't know why you keep saying that it airing on Netflix is new information. And I'm not sure what you mean by "give out."

[up]Complain.

And my point was that I expect the reaction to be very negative.

Speaking of negative, have they reached the funnier parts of Detroit?

It's still really early. And Connor apparently suffered no ill effects from falling off a skyscraper.

We've seen the back of the bus scene for Markus, which everyone already knew about but was still hilarious to watch in person.

*Siiiiiiiiiiigh*

I know I'm going to suffer. I know I'm going to feel pain. But it has to be done. Especially if Woolie is going to review it. Disclaimer

I'm going to watch Reboot: The Guardian Code.

Pray for me.

I don't know any spoilers about the plot of Detroit so I could be way off-base, but I assumed this "Connor" is just a new android with the same appearance as the android from the opening scene. It's also possible that the company copied his hard drive into a new body. We'll find out soon enough, I guess.

Meanwhile, in their God of War playthrough, they just got to a particularly big plot point. Hearing them get so hyped was totally worth the price of admission.

Part 3 wherin we learn that the androids' blue blood isn't for show. It basically functions like actual blood, taking energy to what Connor described as an android's bio-components. So these things aren't just wire and circuits.

I actually like the Fantastic Drug tropes. I mean, you don't want to put it in everything, but if you're not on Earth, or your work is set in the future, or a world with an alternate history, creating a new drug for your work is fully justified. If you think it's appropriate that is. I don't think you want to have an episode of My Little Pony where Twilight Sparkle freebases magical crack.

What really strains my Willing Suspension of Disbelief is that those are clearly Whattaburger cups in the dead guy's house. That's a Texas burger chain, but apparently they've expanded to Michigan by the time the android future rolls around.

Augh. I knew the Guardian Code was going to be bad but, ugh. The first episode is abysmall. Just out and out terrible. As an origin story it suuuucks. The show is literally incapable of going 10 seconds without having an incredibly stupid moment. Things get better after the first couple episodes and it sort of finds a groove. It has nothing to do with Reboot, but if you removed the title and Megabyte and said it was a new IP then it would be tolerable. It would still be really stupid though. Megabyte gets a cat virus in one episode. He’s thinking of names for stand lists stuff like chaos and mayhem. Because we all know how much that Megabyte is supper into this things, unlike his sister who is all about order. In one episode the main bad guy, the Sourcerer, tries to hack a tropical storm. He hacks a military weather satelite that magically turns a minor storm into a hurricane. Just because. The good guys stop this by planting a bomb in cyberspace. When it goes off it blows up the satellite in the real world. The whole show is dumb like this, but after the first bit it became less offensive.

Then Episode 10 happened.

This show is basically a reboot. It is impossible for it to share continuity with the old show. Then in episode 10 Megabyte goes to Mainframe and it’s just like it was in the early episodes of the original show. Megabyte meets with Hex and she throws an attack at him, which Megabyte just no-sells, because we all know that of the two Megabyte is the one with all the magic powers. They can’t even get Hex’s face transition right, half the time, which should be the easiest thing in the world. Oh, and it turns out Mainframe just happens to be located in the back of the good guys base. They just never knew about it. Then there’s this guy, he’s a fan of the original Reboot series. Like a super fan. He wears a shirt with the logo on it and he has a statue of Mike the TV. How he can be a fan of a TV show that doesn’t exist in this universe. He really wants to play a game, but he can’t because until now Mainframe has been in low power mode. Though why this guy needs what the show calls an antiquated server that is miles away from his actual computer is too obvious a question for this show to answer. He’s a thousand times more of a caricature than comic book guy from the Simpsons. And you would not believe how bad the game cubes look. They’re like blocks of stone. When Bob shows up he recites his narration to the original show, but it couldn’t be more awkward and out-of-place. When the main characters show up and saw they are Guardians Users, Bob barely bats and eye. He just accepts it without questioning where these new “Guardians” came from, or how they were given the title, and he certainly doesn’t question how there is a user in Mainframe.

This whole episode is made by someone who obviously saw one episode of the original show, and pays lip-service to it, but was clearly was unable to understand what actually made it good. Or who the characters are. Or have even a passing idea of how the world works. Woolie is going to kill himself when he sees this episode.

Detroit: Become Human, Part 4. In which Woolie takes the high road and for his trouble, gets shot by robo-racist cops; Pat mind-rapes a suspect and is surprised when things go badly; and Matt steals a Shame Hoodie for Alice with no hesitation.

I guess we'll find out soon enough whether or not there's any continuity of mind between the different copies of Connor.

I hope Pat doesn't keep getting Connor killed, his story is much more interesting if he persists.

Maybe this time when he comes back from the dead we'll get an explanation of how he's doing it.

That deviant, why was he living in the attic for several weeks instead of just running away?

Maybe Pat would have found an answer to that if he'd stuck to questioning the perp, rather than mind-raping him at the first opportunity. I wonder if it's connected to that shrine to the AI God they found in the bathroom. According to the comment section, there was an opportunity to learn more about AI God, but Pat just breezed right past that.
