but Kiawe, Lana, and now Gladion all have the other Z-Crystals. So will Ash just get his own copies of them?

Looks like I was right about the Z-Powered form not being permanent in the anime.

Next episode, Lillie is back in her original outfit.

And I guess we can classify Faba as Easily Forgiven, seeing as how he's at the party with everyone, hasn't been fired, and is interacting with the children (mainly Ash and Lillie) as if nothing happened.

Weird she went back to her old outfit, so she only wore her new clothes for like 3 episodes? It's almost like the writers missed the point of her change in the games. It also seems like Lusamine was never really evil or unhinged in the anime compared to the games.

They still have like 10+ more Ultra Beasts to feature in the anime, especially now that we know Movie 21 won't have anything to do with Alola, so I guess there has to be some other big arc coming later in the saga.

Well, the anime never really treated Lille's outfit change as a big deal, and she had already changed outfits for different activities before (her diving suit for fishing, and her riding gear for Stoutland).

We already had Lillie's bonding with Snowy and Pikachu to symbolize her growth in the anime, she only changed outfits here because her casual outfit was impractical for rescuing her mother.

So looks like the teacher and the other woman are getting married? Lana/Mallow hugging is cute. It also seems like Solgaleo will leave the group and jump into the wilderness where all the random legendaries go.

I do hope we get another Ultra Beast arc later. Also Team Skull and Guzma need some focus.

Last preview before the episode airs.

The new stuff shown:

  • Faba seemingly apologizing to Ash and Lillie
  • Pikachu being affectionate towards Lillie
  • Ash getting Kukui out of bed

So the episode did indeed feature Kukui and Burnet's wedding. Aside from that:

  • Lusamine appointed Ash, Lillie, and their friends as "Ultra Guardians"
  • They spot Solgaleo flying by as they stand on the beach, and wave goodbye to it
  • Episode ends with Poipole emerging from an Ultra Wormhole and arriving in Alola

Has Ilima appeared at all? Nanu, Acerola, Mina, Hapu, anyone from team skull besides the thugs? Kahili?

The main plot of the games has been resolved and like half of the S/M cast has barely made an appearance, if at all.

Have they even been to Ula'Ula?

[up] No, they haven't been to Ula'ula. And none of the Trial Captains exist in the anime besides the ones in Ash's class (who aren't Trial Captains in this continuity). Team Skull is a no-show aside from those three grunts.

Nanu and Hapu at least are guaranteed to appear since they're Kahunas.

Also, Gladion told Ash that he's leaving on a journey. Now that Lillie doesn't need protecting anymore, his goal has changed from getting stronger to protect his sister to getting stronger so he can keep up with Ash after seeing him and Pikachu use 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt. He's going to take the Island Challenge. Ash said that he's also going to take the Island Challenge, and that he'd like to battle Gladion again next time they meet.

I'm surprised pokemon did a wedding episode. It only took 20 years, but we finally saw two characters get married on-screen. I guess this is what they call a "canon" ship, as you can't exactly argue two characters who just got married aren't a canon couple.

I'm kinda surprised all the SM girls wanted to catch the bouquet and Mallow/Lana/Lillie were all disappointed sulking. So all the SM girls want to fall in love? Seems to me every female character in this show, except maybe Iris (?) all wanted to have a love interest.

Solgaleo left as expected, and now we have the new UB foreshadowed. And Gladion does seem to be functioning as the typical Ash rival this saga, it really makes me wonder if we will get some kind of league at the end of this arc after all.

It's just a wedding tradition in the west they were having fun with, probably.

According to Takeshi Shudo's novels 10 year olds are legal adults in the Pokemon universe, and can get married. Same reason you see some kid characters fantasize about wedding montages in various episodes. Or the times Brock thought about marrying a Nurse Joy or whatever.

I guess in pokemon, 10 year olds = 18 year olds. Same reason they're allowed to travel on their own with no adult supervision, similar to an 18 year old going off to College.

I’m not sure why, but the most recent episode left me feeling strange

Maybe it’s because this seemed like a very odd episode to air as the last one before Christmas (I wasn’t expecting a holiday special, of course, mind you, but still)

Maybe it’s because of how it makes me wonder of what Ash’s own wedding would be like in the future if he ever had one.

I just don’t know, what I do know is that this is the second Sun and Moon episode to air this month that effected me when I was trying to be in the Christmas mood, the first one was the English dubbed episode 43

Somebody please reply to this, it’s one of those things that I really need to talk about for whatever reason

Well there's never been a wedding episode in pokemon before, so I guess that's why it feels a bit strange? Every saga does something new or different from the previous ones, so this is a first for the series. The ep also acted as an epilogue to the current Aether arc, with Solgaleo leaving and Fabba and Lusamine being there.

As for Pokemon Adventures, it is nice it gets away with a lot more dark storylines than the anime does, but its always been like that.

Am I the only one that wanted the courtship of Kukui and Burnet to be extended into being the B Plot of the upcoming Ultra Beasts arc?

Granted, Christmas in Japan has more romantic connotations than in the West, but that doesn't excuse this Romance Arc from being abrupt.

Since they're already married in the games, I guess they figured they didn't have to dedicate too much to it.

[up] Plus Kukui and Burnet didn't even want a wedding ceremony, they were just going to get married without a ceremony. The ceremony was a surprise set up for them by the kids.

Adorable episode. I didn't even realize the Japanese Christmas hint...more like Christmas in July considering it's Alola.

I also found a cute Stealth Pun — the couple let out their partners to accompany them down the aisle. In Kukui's case, Braviary (which are always male) would be his Best 'Mon.

I am bumped they Adapted Out Hau and Guzma as well. They are some of the best parts about Pokemon Sun and Moon.
