By the way the dub has confirmed Shiron is called Snowy in English.
I just watched the Pancake race ep.
Sweet Arceus; Jessie's Mimikyu is the dumbest Mon on the planet. Can't even let go of its pointless butthurt to be civil in a race. And how does nobody notice an obvious rocket trail on that fake Bewear?
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefSo at E3 Nintendo said there will be a mainline pokemon game on Switch in 2018. That makes it seem like the SM generation will only last 2 years, making it the shortest gen of pokemon. That means the anime only has a year and a half to cover the rest of the games, the Ultra Beasts, etc. before they move on. Granted it's not confirmed, but it seems likely especially with Ultra SM for 3DS this year, then Marshadow being the last event legendary announced for Movie 20.
If SM is just a short gen, now I can see why the anime just made it a silly school-centric slice of life series. The writers probably didn't want to be rushed into only 2 years covering everything, which makes me think Ash will just beat the 4 Kahuna's and that will be it in terms of his goal this season, then just have some Ultra Beast arc in the last year.
It's possible the Switch game could be Stars/the third Sun/Moon game. I read that a likely reason S/M worked out this way is in response to Yokai Watch, which had the main character hanging with friends for most of it and ramping up the supernatural stuff at the endgame, and more significantly having its third version released within a year of 1+2 rather than 2 years as is the norm for Pokemon.

The Protomen enhanced my life.Hmm...would a remake count as a "mainline game"?
Oh God! Natural light! It's pretty obvious Nintendo wants a new main pokemon game on Switch as soon as possible, which would generally mean 2018. If they do DP remakes eventually they likely wouldn't come out until after Gen 8.
If the pattern holds Sinnoh remakes won't be until 2019 because remakes come out every five years. As for the Switch game that's not actually confirmed for next year.
I often wonder how far ahead of time the anime writers get news when a new game comes out. Since each saga of the anime always ends when the new games are released, they usually have to rush the tail-end of every saga to cover what they want to before starting fresh again with the next arc. This is always why most of the filler is in the beginning/middle of each saga because they're not quite sure how long it'll last, then they rush all the important events into the last 30ish episodes.
We saw it happen with XY, and a lot of older sagas before that like with DP. I hope the anime can give us a decent Ultra Beast arc in the tail-end of SM and cover the story beats from the games.
I remember back when BW was happening someone on the anime staff already knew it was gonna last three years (I think it was dub staff, but I doubt there's anything the dubbers know the original staff wouldn't). So I'd guess they have a loose idea of how many years a gen is slated for, but not exactly when it's gonna end, like what month.
Watched the latest episode today.
We can add Pikachu to the list of pokemon Lillie can touch now. And they seem to have a new opening, probably to promote the remake movie, since it's Mezazze Pokemon Master and all that.
One Strip! One Strip! The new opening for those who haven't seen it:
Still catchy as ever, heh!
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy. For me, Mezase Pokemon Master! will always be the iconic Pokémon theme song, so it's really nice to hear Rica Matsumoto sing it again.
It looks so out of place though with Sun/Moon scenes. It's not really the era I associate with it. Not to mention Ash in this saga looks completely different than he has in the past 20 years.
Eh, YMMV. I don't think it looks out of place, but that's just me.
If I do say so myself, the opening is rather confusing in terms of engagement and rhythmic tune. Many theme openings in Japan were animated to be line with the music. The first opening is iconic in that regards. But the clips do not line up thanks to being stock footage (and I give credit to the US dub openings for feeling somewhat in sync with their music, at least for the first one).
Yeah, I would prefer rewatching the original theme opening rather than this. Every time I hear this, I can't help but see the original opening.
That might be because most of the scenes are ripped from the first opening, combined with stock footage. It feels very...disjointed as a result.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Pretty sure this is just a temporary opening until the 20th movie is out.
I'm hoping the stock footage/repeat footage from the first opening and episodes of the show are just there until they finish the actual opening.

So in the recent episode, Ash was surprised to see another Nurse Joy on Akala Island. Joy replied that the Nurse Joy on Melemele is her sister, and Rotom Dex said that they're twins because their DNA is 99% identical.
At this rate, I won't be surprised if the M20 -> SM reboot theory turns out to be true. They've never had Ash forget that there are a bunch of Nurse Joys before.

I seriously don't get why they bring attention to the identical Nurse Joys anymore. I admittedly don't follow the show much but I don't think it's been Played for Laughs in forever, and it's not the type of thing you point out while still playing straight.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Probably force of habit.
It's a real issue when you are still making a joke that's lost it's oomph long ago.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah that's exactly my point, this is the first time in forever that they've brought attention to the identical Nurse Joys.
maybe he's surprised that all the Joys with different hairstyles are also twins.

Sticker set confirms that Gladion will have his Type: Null.◊ Damn, that thing is bigger than I thought. It's over 6ft tall. And Sivally is over 7ft lol.
