Fan art will likely exist shortly after a character is announced, I believe.

In any event, I dare ask, has Ash's Pikachu ever sent any of Ash's other Pokémon out of their Poké Balls (save for that one XY episode between Snowbelle Gym battles)?

Or has any other Pokémon done something similar? (Not sending themselves out like Wobbuffet often seems to do…)

One of the directors even went on record years ago saying all the girls that keep joining Ash are there for the boys (and ostensibly the now adolescent to fully grown periphery demographic) to ogle. How do you get asses in seats in front of an anime in Japan nowadays?

Well you could make a good show. Or you could fill it with cute girls. Or both. But the second of those works just fine, too.

I'm kind of surprised Kiawe's part of his party this time - he's the antithesis to that sort of thing. Guess they wanted everyone to have something this time.

The new series I see good enough in terms of Sakuga alone and being the first mainstream Long running anime to take full advantage of Toon Boom. That's a win in itself in my book, and will just influence more studios to follow suit.

There's already been tons of art for Mallow, Lillie, Lana, now they will implode.

Really there's been fanservice art since day 1 when the internet pokemon fandom started. It used to be all Misty stuff back in the gen 1 era....then when May was introduced the internet pokemon fandom exploded. There's May art dating back 14 years to 2002 for goodness sakes.

@Crizelda: There was the BW subway arc where Pikachu releases Snivy from her Pokeball after all of them are caught by TR, then she in turn releases the others from their Pokeballs.

The show isn't exactly shrewd about sexualising it's girls, what with their tight clothing (how many Pokegirls where long pants?), their absurdly matured proportions (especially May pre-DP) and being most likely to be put in perilous situations such as being Bound and Gagged or attacked by a Pokemon in a way that some consider arousing (eg. mummified with String Shot or Cofagrigus' bandages).

The creepy part is that Pokemon is one in a million animes to do so, not even to characters who are supposed to be pre-pubescent (though at least rarely remotely look such).

Yeah that was in the 13th movie. There's also the episode Dawn swaps clothes with that princess lookalike in the episode she gets her Togekiss, and the princess comments how short her skirt was and tried to pull it down. There were a bunch of other jokes in the actual anime about how short Dawn's skirt was in the various episodes.

Had 4kids still been dubbing the anime when DP rolled along, I honestly wonder if they would have digitally lengthened Dawn's skirt. There were some old episodes where Jessie's skirt was short for a scene and they actually extended it. But with Dawn appearing for 191 episodes...that would be quite an edit job.

There was promotional stuff that gave Dawn pants◊.

The dub cut Ash's flashback for time. Unfortunately, it was mostly the Ship Tease scenes that were cut.

Huh, that's basically the exact opposite of what they did for Misty. Just goes to show how the modern dubbers have different priorities than the old ones.

What did they cut out of the dub flashbacks, the scene where Ash is sick and falls into Serena's chest? At least they left that in the actual episode.

Maybe the modern dubbers prefer Ash/Misty XD

Not just the Ship Tease stuff,^note though the Ribbon was spared, a quarter of Ash's reflection sequence was lost! Specifically, everything between Ash & Clemont's promise from Episode 9 to Ash's gift to Serena in Episode 59, and everything but the re-promise between Ash and Greninja from Alain's Introduction to Greninja's victory in the semis: so Hawlucha and Talonflame also got the shaft and we missed little Goomy (though we did get Goodra)!

Heck, I'm not even sure they showed Ash & Pikachu in the airplane cabin! So 17 or 19 frames out of 67 EDIT: in that Serebii capture (25% more or less)

Unfortunately, you have to fit the advertisements credits in somewhere...

Do you think they'll have the full sequence (possibly barring the "Iron Tail Pikachu" scene) in the streaming and/or dvd versions?

EDIT: Sidebar: If "surprised awe" was what the writers were going for with the Kiss, one would've thought that Ash would've been a bit distant while seeing Serena's plane taking off, musing "so that's what a kiss is like" or something similar before Clemont breaks him out of it with his battle request.

They're still there, they just use Comfeys now. Same with the Jennies with Gumshoos instead of Growlithe/Arcanine.

Makes more sense than the Kalos Nurse Joys using Wigglituffs. I mean, Moon Stones are rare!

Well, that was disappointing in terms of fanservice. The girls were in sandals the entire time, even underwater. At least the episode seems good plot-wise, otherwise I'd say it was a complete waste of time.

Team Rocket... defeated Ash in a Pokémon battle. Sure, Bewear had to ruin it by taking them home but still...

Let him not enjoy the lack of fan service.

Besides, it's not like the recent games don't have a ton of sexual innuendo anyhow, intentional or otherwise.
