I think the problem with the battle arcs is Beelzebub sets up something good and serious, then rushes through it, and badly at that. The arc before the whole America tour thing wasn't that bad or rushed though, but this one, it reeks of being rushed to cancellation...
I was thinking something along those lines back towards the end of the Behemoth arc, and this wasn't as bad as that was, so I'm going to say we shouldn't invoke 'cancellation' lightly.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."Well, I guess I am echoing a bit on what I have been hearing about people saying it's going to be cancelled, so my bad. I hope it isn't, but I fear it.
I don't see why it would be. I don't get that feeling now.
Chapter 240 is up. And yeah, it's the last one. It's pretty sudden, so I guess it was canceled. Perfect end for the series though.

I am satisfied with that ending. Even if the final arc was rushed.
Yeah this was awesome way to end the series. The last arc was rushed but this chapter was good.
Funny his Beel sister name is Nico.
Can't wait for the spin-off!
I guess that's a decent enough ending despite being cut short.
So Beelzebub is over now? I enjoyed the ride, and I do like the final chapter. The final battle with Fuji was underwhelming especially since the Takamiya one was better, but I agree Beelzebub does better when it doesn't go into action mode. I think previous arcs were able to do it a lot better than this one, though.
Apparently there's going to be a spin-off running in a lesser jump magazine. Bimonthly though.
Furuichi finally getting the respect he deserves.
As one of the only series that I've actively followed from the beginning (5 years!), I'm sad to see this go.
But honestly, I think that Beelzebub was at it's best when it was a quirky slice of life with some supernatural elements thrown in. My fave arc has to be End of War (and to a lesser extent, Okinawa), largely because it consisted of 90% laugh out loud comedy with a 10% sprinkling of super awesome, yet characteristically kooky, action scenes.
These recent super long shonen action arcs DO have their good moments (Oga vs Takamiya slugfest, Himekawa being a chessmaster and Kanzaki's curbstomp of Nasubi) but overall I felt (and others felt too, judging by the low ratings) like they were straying away from the craziness that defined this series, instead turning it into something predictable.
My ONE wish for the spinoff is that Tamura doesn't sideline/ignore/replace the original Ishiyama crew. (By that I'm taking about the Tokoshiki, their main lackeys and Furuichi). The Nakama bonding and antics really made the manga for me, plus gave rise to some of the funnier moments of the series.
For this reason I'm PRAYING that it's NOT going to be Nico-centric or completely focused on Oga adventuring in the Demon World. (Though this is probably a pipe dream....T_T)
Side story out. That was... unique.
Yes. It was.
That was great. Hoping to high hell there's a romantic resolution queued up for next week.
YOU WERE ALREADY HALFWAY THERE AOI FINISH THE JOB
The worst. Literally the worst. Massive shipper. Also a Bay12 Denizen.Okay, this was awesome. It seems Tamura went back to the roots- Beelzebub is a screwball comedy again.
I'm so going to love this.
Indeed it's excellent.
What's this about a side story?
Pretty much what you get when Beel's grandmother gets involved. Here's a clue: she uses an age-reversal gun.
I'm not receiving updates about this sidestory from "my source" so I guess I'll have to go out and find it. What's it called exactly?
Beelzebub side story.
You can also head to Red Hawk Scans website. They have a reader.
The Reaper Games starts anew.Hah! Turns out I read the wrong side story, the one I saw was two pages long and about Beel doing a drawing of the Oga family.
Welp, three pages in and already it's talking about titty monsters.
That definitely sets the stage.
It was at least halfway serious. Sure, we get parodies like Oga claiming he's a super saiyan, but we also get stuff played pretty much completely straight like the school getting petrified or the whole thing with Jabberwock.
