...Nevermind then.

I hope the crew will give that show a great ending too. Not that I watch it.

I never got fatigued with Adventure Time in any way, aside from maybe that the hiatuses were hard to stomach, but Regular Show is certainly one of the shows that I'm not entirely ecstatic about the current state of versus how it used to be. (Fair warning, my reasoning here is going to be long-winded as hell so you might just want to scroll past this entire post if you're not into this kind of thing. It's also entirely based off of my own opinion and not an objective analysis of anything.)

My belief is that yes, Regular Show did suffer a seasonal rot, but for me it's not actually the same period that is considered the stage of decline by everybody else. The first most-recent episode that I saw and didn't think was particularly right was Sad Sax. Yeah, that episode. I thought Merry Christmas Mordecai was a fairly good development in the characters (albeit the fact that it had Mordecai being a damn sleaze by the end of it) that I didn't suspect for a decline in the quality of the show. It's been a long time now, but when I saw Sad Sax I was wondering what was up with it. Of course, that episode came before Mordecai and Rigby Down Under, so once I saw "the Australia episode" my concerns were temporarily put to bed and I thought the show was perfect again.

Season 7 arrived later, and at that point I was still annoyed at how Mordecai had gone full moron in Dumped at the Altar by alienating several people and especially CJ. Most of the way through Season 7 I was just watching because I wanted to know what would happen, but I was enjoying Regular Show way less than I used to at that point. That's right; I actually felt a decline in the show after CJ left. I know "she's the scrappy" and "romantic plot tumour" and such, but I actually like CJ and her personality and was never too fussed and whatever it's not really part of what I'm talking about so I'll just move on.

When I was going through Regular Show season 7, I found the episodesnote  to be most of the time rather bland, unamusing, and oddly enough, child-orientated. Like, obviously, show on Cartoon Network, gotta market to kids, right? I like Regular Show because its job is usually to defy that, making itself look less like a kid's show and much more like something you'd find on Adult Swim but carefully disguised to make it not alert Moral Guardians. Now it seems to me like the writing is too childish or something. I can't perfectly explain why, but since then I just didn't quite enjoy the plots as much as I used to. This applies even to the space season, somehow. I suppose I hardly need to say it now, but yes, I am most definitely a die hard fan of classic Regular Show and episodes like Ello Guvna and The Night Owl.

HOWEVER, the show is not consistently mundane for me. Sometimes the new episodes that come out are fucking awesome and make me laugh just as hard as I used to. Like, Christmas in Space? The freaking episode with the physically manifested montage? Those were just like... Wow. That freaking caroler who kept summoning birds and shit was actually hilarious. And of course, nothing is bland about that Dragonforce song that everybody loves, because Through The Fire and Flames is almost impossible to lose out on and man did RS Team do a good job of using it in an episode.

Overall, I think the show is still pretty good, and my hopes are high for a catastrophically heavy and well-made finale.

CJ is more of a base-breaker, not a scrappy. It's not solely her fault for the romantic plot tumor and there was a lot of potential to develop her more, but the agonizing lengths of the series stretching out the romance arc definitely turned some people off of her and Mordecai. It's kind of telling that Rigby started getting much more spotlight afterwards and developed an actually stable, healthy relationship right after Mordecai's arc was finished.

While I do see your point on Season 7 feeling a bit more bland (probably because the writers were at a loss for ideas), I still praise how they handled Rigby's development. It's like J.G. Quintel decided to put actual effort into a romance arc by not making it a dramatic love triangle, but a healthy relationship between two people. Rigby actually became my second favorite character during Season 7 because the sheer amount of development he got more than made up for episodes where he was an absolute dick to everyone (Wall Buddy, anyone?). He went from a lazy good for nothing slacker and the less moral of the main duo to someone who genuinely loves his girlfriend, wants to improve himself, and actually fucking commits to it. Season 6, to its credit, started this development, and Season 7's biggest strength was said development.

So, the next two episodes were put on the CN website before airing on tv. Without giving away any spoilers, "Kill Em with Kindness" is pretty intense, and has almost zero jokes or humorous moments, while "The Seer" is about as meta as it gets without breaking the fourth wall.

Counting the two episodes that were uploaded early, there are 5 more episodes (actually, 4, as the finale is a two-parter).

OK, double posting, but this thread needs a bump for today. Today is the last day Regular Show airs new episodes. The series finale is tonight, my friends.

Also, kinda surprised I didn't realize this before, but the voice of Anti-Pops is Robert Englund, AKA Freddy Kruger.
