find it here, I prefer it to Axis Powers Hetalia. In my view Sweden is Tsundere for Denmark, while Finland is Tsundere for Sweden

Humon's one-off joke about Finland and Sweden's relationship did hit the mark for me, though.

Yeah, I like the comic, as you can maybe tell from the avatar. Ambiguously Gay Sweden is my favourite character.

I loved the comic where they have a Halloween party and Iceland turns up as a "sparkling vampire"...

...and then it turns out Finland is dressed as Buffyevil grin

The one about Canada being America's hat is also awesome. Poor Canada!waii

There was also the epic pun about Mexico being America's beard.

The halloween strip puzzled me a bit. I tried to remember wherther or not Buffy was really popular here at any point.

I thought it was mostly the contrast between Finland (IIRC he put the wig on top of his everpresent cap) and Buffy Summers. (The writer is Danish and portrays things from a Danish perspective, so its not like she has 100% inside information on the neighbouring countries.)

Yeah, I guess it was just for humour. And yeah, Finland is a rare character.

As a Swede, I wholeheartedly approve of Sweden's portrayal.

I am (easily) amused.

Also, another Sweden piece. Relax, we Finns always knew.

Yeah, Li'l Denmark is cute and then horrible. waii

BTW, in real history Sweden got "civilised" last of the Three Guys, so it would have been fun with one strip where he acts more immature than them...tongue

Is humon trying to piss off Americans?

Also, knowing the Weeaboos were angry because Japan onlu appears once and she said she wouldn't probably be using him again any time soon, she should try piss them off, by makinng Japan do something stupid.

Is humon trying to piss off Americans?

Nah, I think she simply base her jokes about America about far nastier stereotypes than when she jokes about other countries. European prejudices about the USA can be pretty harsh. :p

As an American I just found the whole thing amusing. I went to a pretty liberal school and you can't escape the republicans and their rants, so I'm pretty easily annoyed with both extremes and it's great to see them skewered. Plus satire is satire, and these are supposed to be the stereotypes.

But she mentioned that America was going to go away because she always gets a lot of messages about him when she uses him. It's the same reason why Finland isn't around that much, she always gets such a big response and she writes this more for fun then anything.

At least that's what her journals say. XD

LOL PINK WITH LONG NECKS

Yeah, she could do a better job on America. I mean, if she just toned it down, it could potentially be a lot more biting.

Ruining everything forever.

Was someone talking about intentionally pissing nationalities off? ;)

I'll leave it to, say, Jethro to comment on the real Åland issues. I only know that waaaay back the islands' population wanted to be a part of Sweden, but they stayed Finnish. IIIRC international politics were involved...

Giving Åland to Finland was one of the few decisions the League of Nations did.

Åland is a pretty obscure part of Finland, really. They keep to themselves and the other Finns kinda forget they are there most of the time. They have their own customs, and the area is demilitarized (and the residents exempt from military service, something the Concious Objectors' Union is bit bitter about). But amusingly enough, it's not the most Swedish speaking place in Finland. That honor goes to some small villages in Osthrobotnia (near where I live) where the population is 100% Swedish speakers, some not even speaking Finnish at all.

The Finnish Swedes are a prominent minority, and they have their own politcial party, RKP (Ruotsalainen Kansanpuolue, The Swedish People's Party) that is on every cabinet more or less by default, and in my home town holds nearly half the seats.

[ed.] As for the comic, it's kinda accurate, but to say they run Finland would be exaguration. it's just that Finland can't control them the least bit, but Finaldn also doesn't check all/any political decions by them.

AFAICT (but I have only lived in Finland for some months, and only saw Turku, really) there are differences between Ålanders and other Swedish-speaking Finns. They are both national Finns who speaks Swedish, but that's about it.

And to Swedes, Åland was a prominent destination for Baltic "booze cruises" where you could buy tax-free liquor... and thats about all we know. XD Its not like people actually *step off* the boat in Åland...

I lived across the Baltic from Ostrobothnia as a kid. The Finnish Swedish spoken I heard was often the kind of dialect that was incomprenhensible to an average Swedish teen, usually heard from tourists coming with the ferry. The school Swedish spoken by actual Finns was more easier to get, weirdly enough...

Oh yeah, Finnish Swedish is different from Riksvenska. It's effectively a Creole dialect.

...you know, is it true that Swedish teenagers use Finnish swears when they want to swear really hard?
