In that regard, I'm glad the Judge also accepts the "psychological treatment" without any complaints.

It would be better if they mirrored the image on the top screen, it would make it a lot easier to pick out when someone is acting up if they could see that slight change in something other than a magnifying glass.

If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.

You mean like in Case 5, when Amara's tell is right there in the hands, right in the first section of the statement? XD

I used to hate the change, but now I can kinda get why these past couple games only have the one Perceive'd statement outside of court. Tons of fans probably complained about having to search an even bigger haystack for the needle.

While I like Athena's gimmick more than the other two, I kind of agreed with DD's main villain when he pointed out that it's a pretty sketchy and capable of leading witnesses to say what you want.

Ultimately it all goes back to the unchallenged power of a confession. People are really convinced by confessions, no matter how they come about.

Well, it's not like they're presenting emotions as concrete evidence, or coaxing a witness to talk a certain way or nothin'. Just looking for "contradictions" between what a person says and what they feel. The Judge acknowledges that and allows it to happen, cuz he's cool like that.

The contradiction doesn't exist except in Athena's little machine though. It would be simple for her to manipulate things in her favor.

And the witness could easily just go "What no shut up" and that'd be the end of it. But they don't, since in most cases, they either don't know why they feel that way too or don't want to keep the reasons bottled up. She did train in psychology, y'know.

It also helps that her little machine helped uncover and catch an international spy who went against Japan/American probably 20 times over.

Any witness could say "no shut up" at any moment and just decline to testify. And people can easily have their memories of events changed by a suggestive therapist. Happens all the time.

The Mood Matrix, like I said, is used to get more testimony out of shaken/misremembering witnesses, not indict people by using emotions as evidence, which would be sketchy as hell.

There's only one real case where a character is forced to testify about a contradicting emotion (Why a moon rock makes the phantom feel fear), and it was extenuating circumstances in an already-dubious court.

Something that's making me a little confused about the ending of o SoJ: why is it that Rayfa has to take the throne at the end? Couldn't Amara do it since she's still alive and wasn't a criminal? Is it because she's legally dead?

I'd imagine it has to do with her Having to recover from the bullet wound. That or she just let Rayfa succeed her.

I honestly get the impression that Amara never wanted to lead. If she had, she wouldn't have gone along with Gar'ans plan so willingly.

Did Ga'ran just turn into Rita Repulsa?

So I have a question about the resolution of case 6-5 (spoilers obviously) Given that she could rewrite the law at will, why didn't Queen Gar'an try to rewrite the Khura'in succession rules to remove the requirement for channeling at some point during her reign? I get why she couldn't do it when it came up at the trial (Apollo put her in a position where the royal guard would have arrested her on the spot if she tried), but she's had 23 years to solidify her position.

Because doing so would make it obvious that she couldn't channel. Khurain is a theocracy based on thier leaders ability to channel. She couldn't just remove the key source of her power.

Sure, she can't just immediately change the law in year 1 of her rule. But that's why you slowly tweak the rules over a period of 23 years.

Well, because of the Defiant Dragons. Ga'ran essentially accuses them of being slimy lawyer supporters and defends that spiritual insights provide enough evidence to rend lawyers useless. Ga'ran has to base her legitimacy on spiritual power, otherwise she wouldn't get much leverage against them.

And I believe Amara did explicitly say that, even if she was back, she was forfeiting the throne (certainly because she was tired of all the political shenanigans in which she was and still could get involved)
