I just thought I'd make this thread.

In case you don't know, this thread is about a weapon in Mass Effect 2, the Kassa Fabrications M-12 "Locust" SMG, "the gun that killed two presidents."

I'm running an Infiltrator now, and I have come to see how much I was missing playing as a Soldier. This little beast can hammer its way through an enemy's kinetic barriers, whether they be biotic barriers or suit-generated shields, then rip through their armor before punching them full of holes.

It's incredibly accurate, pretty much on par with the Elanus "Vindicator" Battle Rifle, but with less recoil and fully automatic fire. While the Locust can't fire more than ten rounds in a second, it is still effective in close quarters if you've got the aim and reflexes to keep your sights on target.

This thread may at times seem to be a bit of a live blog, but that's because my Infiltrator run is still ongoing. I recently recruited Garrus Vakarian and Mordin Solus. Last night, I recruited Kasumi Goto and raided Donovan Hock's vault.

However, as awesome as the Locust is, I can't help but think that it's at least a little overpowering. Is it just me?

Personally, I prefer the Tempest. The only thing it's bad at dealing with is armor (and for that, well I have Incinerate, Infiltrator FTW!), packs more ammo and more of a wallop. The Tempest does requires proper trigger discipline to be used at it's fullest extend, but with proper trigger discipline it's possible to hit enemies at 50 meters with the Tempest. The Locust, on the other hand, allows for Spray And Pray tactics but deals less damage.
