Oh, he's still there? I just straight up thought Lile was dead and that was his body falling to pieces at the end.
Lille has the calmest acceptance of whats going on... usually speaking you get panic attacks.
Obviously he is now pure light and what we thought was his body was just light energy given form.
In that last shot of the chapter it clearly looks like his body disappeared but his wings remain. So attacking the body itself is likely useless.

Well those 2 are idiots. Squad 11 is the cannon fodder group so there cant be anyone of actual value there after all.
Askin and Gerard also leave a body part behind and then those parts, Pernida's hand and Lille's wings all combine into a Megazord.

They are the first two Graduates of the Academy to become Captains.
We know around turn back the pendulum that there was a large turn over of captains that by the time of Kisuke's promotion to captain only Unohana, Yamamoto, Shunsui and Ukitake had been captains for over a 100 years. at that moment.

First graduates of Yamamoto's academy - there have been other academies. Any captains from non-Yamamoto academies would therefore be irrelevant to what Yamamoto said.

You know I'm kind of surprised no one has mentioned sexism. The way this has been playing out has been making me a bit uncomfortable, even if it does make some sense that way it's unfolding.

Why would it? We had no reason to suspect that Nanao was anything special. She's also trying to do something she's never done before with a tool that has properties she doesn't fully understand.
And it's not the same with Unohana. She was held up as someone super scary and awesome and most of all valuable. I'm not going to comment on whether or not the situation was sexist because I don't want to get into it, but there's a much stronger argument to be made there.

Like I said, it makes sense happening this way, but that doesn't necessarily factor into these things.
he's doing awfully well for someone who lost a large chunk of his body. He also seems to be spamming small attacks rather than use large, easily-reflected singular attacks. Nice.
