The ease. The ambidexterity.
...the wait. I barely even play anymore.
Mortal Men should not wield such power!
I don't know why, but dual wielding feels like the weirdest most awkward thing ever. I don't think they should change it, though; I'd rather get over my aversion to it in good time.
H.B. WardTorch + Pickaxe is beautiful.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!dual wielding bows?
Warning: This poster is known to the state of California to cause cancer. Cancer may not be available in your country.Only way I could imagine dual wielding bows would be to turn them backwards so the wood parts are up against your shoulders and you pull on the strings like too-far-out suspenders.
Set up a simple little Record grinder today.
Nothing elaborate. Just a named Skeleton trapped forever in a stone enclosure with a door to fire out of, and a Piston trap to snag Creepers.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Ah! Very clever! I never considered using a permanent skeleton.
Poor old me got all 12 discs on a 1.2 upwards world without using any farms.
H.B. WardAt least you earned all of them, I've only ever been able to find repeats of two of them.
Two guys walk into a bar, the third guy ducked.I remember them saying that there would be new, interesting, and unique ways of getting all the new music discs. I wish they stayed true to their word on that. They, in fact, removed a method. Now every single one of them is earned by a skeleton arrow to the creeper death. It would have been much better like this:
- Arrow from skeleton kills Creeper: Disc 1
- Arrow from skeleton hurts Creeper and doesn't kill it: Disc 2
- Drown a Creeper: Disc 3
- Burn a Creeper to death: Disc 4
- Kill a Creeper with YOUR BARE HANDS: Disc 5
- Kill a Creeper with TNT: Disc 6
- Suffocate it: Disc 7
And so on like that until they figure out a way to make methods for every disc in the game... Yeah.

H.B. WardEarning each disc individually would be nice, instead of just randomly getting ones you already have.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I used a bit more complex of a mob farm. It basically drops mobs from a large spawning chamber down to one health. Creepers and skeletons drop in, skeleton shoots creeper, no worries of replacing the skeleton (as new ones come in later anyways).
I've gotten all twelve music discs this way on multiple worlds, one of which is the New Ravendell server. (I had a shop for the extra records I got, but I had to close it temporarily since the ChestShops used there are still in my old username, and need an admin to break unless you have the same name...)

Waiting for Dinnerbone to deliver...
H.B. WardHmm, if we're getting a new type of crop to grow I'm gonna need to expand my farm...
I'd like a couple more fruits and vegetables to grow even if they don't have much practical effect beyond hunger satiation. Like maybe overhaul the way apples fall from oak leaves.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I've always wanted more produce. Bananas, oranges, grapes, tomatoes, cabbage...get some color up in the place.
Instead of Oak Leaves randomly dropping Apples, here's how I think it should work.
Several trees in forests have a chance of spawning as fruit trees; they're still made of Oak Logs and Oak Leaves, but the Oak Leaves have a tag that designates them as part of a fruit-bearing tree (With several possible varieties besides just Apples). Fruit trees cannot be grown with Oak Saplings; instead they must be grown using seeds from the fruit, so you need to harvest fruit from a forest and bring it home if you want to grow your own tree farm. Or maybe find them in villages or treasure chests.
Once grown/generated into a tree, as long as the space directly below the Oak Leaves is empty, they will periodically produce fruit hanging from the leaves. Also maybe detect if the tree has been tampered with so that you have to actually keep it as a tree instead of just cutting the leaves with shears and sticking them on a ceiling, but that's a matter of realism vs. convenience.
Palm trees on the beach with Coconut and Banana varieties would be nice too.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I tried the snapshot. This was also the first time I've ever downloaded and used a snapshot for survival.
I wanted to get to The End from scratch, but I didn't want to spend too long, so I created my own "game modification" where I could commit four iron ingots to become two Blaze Powder, and two gold ingots to become one Ender Pearl. I also took out the Ender Dragon with a cheaty strength effect. (Don't worry, all of this was still less of a cheatfest than creative mode, which I could have easily been using in the first place.)
More information about this stuff soon.
H.B. WardI'm still trying to figure out how to make shields.
UPDATE: that slot that looks like the shield is the dual wield slot. Torches are so easy now.

Two guys walk into a bar, the third guy ducked.Shields were not included in this snapshot. They're not done yet.
Alright, folks! Here's the more information!
As you can see, skeletons walk like smart people now.◊
I kept getting shot while trying to take good screenshots of the drawback animation.◊ That's most likely the reason for the first time I died, at the bonehands of a skeleton.
This is probably the best one.◊
So, I killed an Enderman who held a block, right? Then I was treated with this◊ for some reason.
This is what the Minecraft wiki has to say about it.
There's nothing in any of the changelogs about this, so I imagine that I was the first to discover this. Wow! Who would have thought a lowly Edwardos could do such a thing? I could be wrong, but still...
So, about the dual wielding. I have previously stated that I wasn't overly comfortable about this change, but I've tried it out now, and I think the feature is pretty alright. I've seen lots of people doing the torch and tool thing, with a torch in the off-hand, but I'm not very fond of that one. My preferred method (at least at the time) was what I now call the 'Switchblade Layout'. I put a tool or whatever I'd like to use in Hand 1, and then put the sword in Hand 2, quickly putting it into place with the F key whenever I must combat.
The problem with the torchaxe thing right now is that right clicking is not a surefire success for any item combination you can be holding. If you have a sword in your main hand, that torch will not place. That is about to change, I'm aware, as they will be removing blocking with a sword, but placeable blocks, food, and buckets can also throw off your torch game.
Another thing about dual wielding is the strange visual bugs. See this?◊ If I were to hold food and right click with my hunger bar fully saturated, both items would bob up and down repeatedly.
This is about as far as I got before I stopped discovering new things and retired the session.◊ Chorus plants are really cool, and incredibly fun to topple. Chorus Fruits, on the other hand, are strange and somewhat nerve-wracking. When you eat them, you get teleported. There's no confirmation as to whether they can make you teleport of the edge and send you plummeting off to your death, but I wouldn't put it past Mojang.
Unfortunately, while I flew around I didn't find any cities, and at that point doubted they even existed yet. I didn't know until I had already quit and checked the information on the wiki.
...And there is so much stuff on the wiki. Things I never knew were in the snapshot I was playing. Things to make the world more awesome. Beetroot, splash water bottles, grass paths, dragon heads! I can't wait to play with these in the polished game.

H.B. WardPopping in to say I have an obsession with building dams. Dams of all kinds. Everywhere. Haaalp.
<Pops out again>
Before I loaded the snapshot I had a health potion in my inventory. AFTER however, the potion loaded as one of those untextured blocks and the item description said bottle of water or something like that. Methinks potions are being changed...
Two guys walk into a bar, the third guy ducked.
Well, just you wait!
