Yes, some vns can have the slice of life comedy tag on it, but it could become anything else later on, sagara may had comedy and stuff on it, but it aint "vanilla" as some people said

Let's say a character is, I don't know, a teacher for approximately five minutes of the story right at the beginning. At the end of that five minutes he goes on to a totally different career. If you're looking for a story with a teacher protagonist you might see that tag and decide to check it out but be disappointed when the actual story gets going and it's totally different from what that 'Teacher' tag led you to expect.

And yeah, the slice of life comedy just means there's slice of life comedy in it, not necessarily that that's what the VN focuses on. I mean, Higurashi has slice of life comedy and it's full of insanity and murder.

Edit: By the way, that example was not a hypothetical. I've actually seen that.

Sengoku rance for me. it had a fun gameplay, but I just couldn't stand the protagonist.

Compared to other characters in that and the other games, he is a Saint

I went into Flyable Heart blind. That's another really lighthearted one. There was a fun twist regarding one of the heroines that I'm glad I wasn't spoiled for.

Honestly, I can't take Rance seriously, so I don't care about what he does.

So, in other news, Shiny Days is pretty boring. I can't even read it at my own pace because of the stupid format.

What's it about, and what's wrong with the format?

It's a fandisc/sequel type thing to School Days, so far as I can tell. A minor but popular character gets to be the main character and her best friend basically blackmails her friend into taking over her waitress job while she's sick, her coworkers are jerks, the girl who pulled her top down moves into her room and then guilt trips her into giving up her room and Setsuna herself is a doormat.

The format is that it's basically a low budget anime. Everything is animated, but not very well, so you have to read it at the (slow) pace it defaults to. Also, thanks to being basically an anime, the game is huge.

That doesn't sound good, but I would think that being animated would make the pacing faster.

It's very slow paced. I can read much, much faster than it displayed things. Just reading pure text probably would have been about five to ten times faster.

I'm going to try to keep at it though. I gave up on School Days because Makoto was irritatingly indecisive but maybe that'll be different here.

No, not really. He's mostly just completely spineless, I think. Though he can kind of act like a huge dick.

What was the stuff they removed from JAST release?

A few sex scenes. The only ones I know about for sure are the ones with Kotonoha's little sister who is probably like eight so I am not too concerned about this.

I'm not sure you should bother, though, unless you actually like casts full of completely unsympathetic people.

Its not that im interested in that, but it STILL feels like im reading an incomplete Vn

I think that's just because Setsuna is a boring person who doesn't do anything. She's slightly less doormat-y at the point where I am so it's probably intentional.

Is Subarashiki Hibi any good?

And this character is... Super Sonico, I think? I don't remember what she's from, so I'm not sure what she's doing in Shiny Days.

Edit: Oh, she's like something of a mascot character that got her own anime.
