It isn't very hard to get a visual novel without a torrent.
Since you can buy it off the internet.
Eh, some of Hongfire's stuff consists of direct downloads...
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.^^ That naturally depends on your internet speed. For someone like me, getting Clannad off XDCC would take me 24 hours or more.
My FF.net accountDoes anyone use this?
I've downloaded it because there are games I want to play that aren't translated. It seems a bit complicated, so does anyone have any experience with it?

So, I looked up the newest VN I saw being translated at tlwiki. It was tagged with Guro, Necrophilia and Bondage. Yeah... I think I'm skipping that one.
^ uhh wow....
And my post last page was ignored... what does every one think of Persona 3 & 4's visual novel style S-link system?
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Never played a Persona game.
Really?
Its RPG which has a battle system compareable to ffx except elements are huge. In the game you are a semi normal high school student but can use a persona close to a Mon as you go through the game you can fuse 2 or more to make a new one to make new ones stronger you form friends with someone in or around the school which is done in visual novel style and each friend has a full story to them and girls you can become their boyfriend if you play your cards right.. or more than one girl.
No real branching becides girlfriend vs just friends or the never want to talk to you again (only 1 girl can ever do this and you have to be the biggest dick to her)
You have to balance fighting, upping stats like studying or expression (can't start some slinks till you get them high enough or get all responces and tests) and spending time with your friends.
If that made any sense.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Shrug. Not like I finished FFX either. I might get around to it eventually, but I'm in no big hurry. Especially since I'm trying to avoid spending money on stuff I don't need right now.
That's cool.
Novelty is weird and complex, Ren'py is simple and really nice. It even has a built-in tutorial! I personally use Ren'py. Unfortunately, I can't draw worth crap, so I can't exactly make any visual novels.
Here's my question: Tsukihime and Higurashi use an interesting effect for their backgrounds in that they seem to be regular photos, except blurred and or something. How do they make that effect? Does it actually involve actual photographs being altered?

I write pretty good fanfiction, sometimes.Higurashi is just photoshopped photos. I'm not sure about Tsuki though.
Why does every Visual Novel begin with a Flash Forward?
The ones I have played:
Every single one of them began with some In Medias Res scene, and half of them with the ending itself.

I never noticed that.
Ever17 starts with a pretty standard introduction.
I write pretty good fanfiction, sometimes.^^^ To keep people interested past the first few hours of introducing most of the cast. First person narration makes it take a long time to establish things and have characters discover them.
Interestingly, the first chapter of Umineko No Naku Koro Ni does NOT begin with a flash-forward. (Some of the later chapters, though, are very guilty of this.)
The first chapter of Umineko is guilty of being boring though.
I have True Remembrance sitting around waiting to be played. So far I am having fun just listening to the soundtrack.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahTsukihime is interesting in that it starts with a flash back.
I write pretty good fanfiction, sometimes.Lies.
Sharin no Kuni starts in the present with occasional flashbacks to the main character as a kid.
Ever17's intro is standard... until you beat it. It's standard in that it's not really in the middle of anything. A bunch of people are going to an underwater theme park. There's not really much plot at the beginning. Or so they make you think.

I write pretty good fanfiction, sometimes.Well, it's non standard in that you have perspective of two characters instead of one but otherwise, yeah.
In the interest of not spoiling anyone who hasn't read it, I will just say that Ever17 cheats.
Did you get the PM I sent you?
IRC is great for downloading visual novels. /jp/ always has the latest English translated visual novels. IRC can be rather difficult to learn at first, but then you can download Clannad in an hour and a half or less.
