Well that fucking sucks. She was great as Krabappel, and Krabappel never got annoying over time.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Wonder how they'll handle the retiring. She was a major character, so it's not like they can just Chuck Cunningham her, and expect no one to notice.
Though I have a feeling that's exactly what they are going to do.
I heard Edna's voice actress died. Is that true? Plus, who cares if the Simpsons are getting better, it's eventually getting cancelled soon.
" 'TIS BUT A SCRATCH! IT'S JUST A GRASS WOUND! RUNNING AWAY FROM BATTLE, EH? YOU FIREY BASTARDS!! - The Black ChesnaughtChuck Cunningham Syndrome is exactly how they disposed of the Phil Hartman characters, but none of them had interaction with one of the main characters on a daily basis (either as Ned's wife or Bart's teacher). The trouble is there is that since they married her to Ned, they can't just say that she got, say, a much better job at a much better school somehow, putting her on a bus in a respectable way, unless they do just go in for Cosmic Retcon of some kind and write her out of existence, ending Nedna and introducing a new teacher.
Since it's an Elephant in the Room I'm guessing there will be a The Character Died With Her.

Or they could have her suffer vocal cord paralysis.
In response to the title of the thread: no. It's worse than ever now, in my opinion.
The show's ratings have risen up a little and as of the 2010s, it's actually getting more ratings than Family Guy whereas in the late 2000s, it was the opposite.
Anyway not ALL of the new episodes are as mediocre as people say. There are still some good episodes here and there. And even then, I don't think the show has gotten as bad as say, Sponge Bob (Which is worse than Modern Family Guy and Modern Simpsons put in a blender, in my opinion).

Yeah, not all the new episodes are terrible. "The Day the Earth Stood Cool" (the hipster episode) was on British TV a few days ago. I watched a bit of it, and it was actually very good. A fun storyline and good humour, with modern pop culture references that are woven into the story well and don't feel as out of place. I also really like "Politically Inept" and "To Cur with Love". Sadly, those are the exceptions to the rule.
"The Simpsons has really improved since the movie came out" is a stupid cliche. If episodes like "Fat Man and Little Boy" and "The Heartbroke Kid" were being aired today, people would still praise them as a return to form. People just want to think The Simpsons is getting better, even though it really isn't.
Poor Ned never gets a break huh?
