^There's a similar list for webcomics: Notable Webcomics. As far as I know, both lists acknowledge that they're not so much "noteworthy" as "anything you'd care to list".
I don't have anything against losing the "noteworthy"/"notable" parts of the titles, as long as we keep the lists themselves. I'm sure they're useful for people looking for something to read or watch.
Thirded...bring them in line with the rest of the works indexes.
I have no objections to "this is a short list of works to give you a primer on media style X"-type lists, but they have to be regulated and the pages locked. Use discussion pages to nail down what the standard of notability is for these things. Limiting to a specific number doesn't sound good.
I thought the titles for both Noteworthy Anime and Notable Webcomics were a Take That! at The Other Wiki, and at one time acknowledged as such.
That is, they're supposed to be an indicator of the philosophy of TV Tropes: everything is noteworthy, if someone cared enough about it to take note of it.

^^In the case of anime we have Essential Anime, which it was agreed should be redone in the style of "essential in defining Tropes" instead of a "primer on anime" list. If we're to get into doing those sorts of lists i think it ought to be a different section geared toward editorial and "TV Tropes Recommends" sort of stuff.

Shadowtext appears to be wrong when looking at the archived discussion and the current description. It was described as a restrictive list and even now "significant because they provide good examples of given anime tropes, or because at least one of our contributors enjoyed them thoroughly" is both inaccurate and restrictive.
I have a notification up and will change in a day or so. This thread is short but throughout the page's life it has been receiving "Er, no, hang on a minute..." comments and the title is just an artifact of an earlier time.

If there is not going to be any further movement on this, can the thread be locked to remove the notification?
Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project!Only after the page is renamed. It has a horrible title.
I believe Note Worthy Anime was done differently. The Notable Webcomics was a gag done when The Other Wiki was doing it's great webcomic purge. Note Worthy Anime is supposed to be an actual list of anime worth making a not of due to the effect it had on the industry.
Fight smart, not fair.In this case, we need an actual anime index, where we can move all of the examples from here.
I think Anime is an actual index isn't it?
Huh, I guess it isn't.

Fight smart, not fair.I support that idea.
No! I was just joking! A new index for anime would effectively be the duplicate of this page, with a better title. A rename makes a lot more sense.
Then let's rename it. I'm all for us having big lists of animé (and webcomics, and live-action TV shows, and anything else you'd care to mention), but this name has caused more confusion than it's worth.
I moved everything onto Anime. Those media that aren't listed on a "Noteworthy" page have their works on the page of their name or rather they have the main stem index on their page and then it gets split. Film is the superindex of film works, though they have been subdivided by year of release. Comics are on Comics though arranged by country, stand up comedians are on Stand-Up Comedy, tv series are on TV.Series.
We should standardise things as such. When they get too long you have to divide them again anyway and then what would you have? You'd have Anime linking to Noteworthy Anime linking to "Anime A-D" under the current system with nothing being by each page.
That is exactly what has happened with Webcomics. You go there then you have to click on Notable Webcomics and then it's just an index of the indexes of the genres, each of which are also called Noteworthy. I call for us to rename the Notable Webcomics. We can simple remove the Noteable and get rid of the extraneous page. I have moved the target article of this thread.
Sorry for taking so long.

Good solution.
When I said that moving the examples is a bad idea, I obviously meant that it's a bad idea to keep the "noteworthy" list in contrast with the default list.
Whatever else is done, I think the most important thing is to get rid of all the "Notable" references. It's an old in-joke hanging on far past its expiration date. It caused me genuine confusion when I started troping, as I couldn't figure out whether, despite There Is No Such Thing As Notability, we might have some "except for Web Comics and other Internet-only stuff" exception.
Jet-a-Reeno!Yeah, let's rename the Webcomics list as well. It's awesome in itself, it just needs a less confusing name.
OK I've moved over all of the webcomic subpages except for Fan Webcomics because frustatingly that already has another page except it's in a completely different format without alphabetisation but with subcategories of photocomics and sprite comics.
Also there's Sprite Comic to duplicate Sprite Webcomic except that's an art style and not a genre so I'm not sure what to do with that because the art style separations have been on their own section on the webcomic page up till now. The "notable" ones have been genres.
I would also like to cut Notable Webcomics and would like a mod to move over the discussion page for that.
I'm also going to move this discussion onto Notable Tabletop Games.

Where do you want the discussion moved to?
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Sorry: I'd like it on Webcomics. Is that impractical for some reason?
No, it's not a problem. I just couldn't figure out what you wanted the destination page to be.
It's moved.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Should I go ahead and cutlist the notable webcomic sub-indexes (Notable Fantasy Webcomics, etc.) since no one else seems to have done it yet?
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)If the ones without "notable" are up, please go ahead. As it is, it looks ugly with webcomic pages being listed on both indices.
Noteworthy Anime = Notable Anime = List of anime shows because Theres No Such Thing As Notability.
It is The Artifact of a less enlightened time, there is no noteworhy criterion at all, it is just our list of anime shows.
