Can now safely confirm that the shooting at the Resort World Manila event was done by a guy who wasted most of his money in gambling that he offed himself.
Though there are conspiracy theorists who wonder how the guy shot himself in the head while on fire and the other is whether the PNP is telling the whole story, since it coincides with the Marawi City siege.

Err...this happened: DeKalb Sheriff Jeff Mann pleads not guilty after Piedmont Park arrest
Mann, who has said he will clear his name, appeared in Atlanta Municipal Court for a brief hearing to enter his plea. Judge Crystal Gaines scheduled his trial for July 7.
“He’s not guilty, your honor,” said Mann’s attorney, Noah Pines. ADVERTISING
Mann sat beside his attorney and didn’t speak during the court hearing.
Mann hasn’t provided an explanation for the events leading to his arrest near Piedmont Park on May 6. He apologized for putting the county in an “unfavorable light” and said he will continue doing the job he was re-elected to in November.
The hearing Friday was Mann’s second appearance in court this week.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Eric Dunaway on Wednesday rejected Mann’s effort to stop an investigation ordered by Gov. Nathan Deal. The governor could suspend Mann for up to 90 days, order an additional investigation by the GBI and request the De Kalb District Attorney initiate proceedings that could remove the sheriff from office.
Mann is serving a self-imposed one-week suspension this week. Mann issued the suspension for violating De Kalb Sheriff’s Office policies for officer conduct.
Mann wrote in a memo to his employees last week that he’s not admitting guilt, saying the penalty was for damaging the public’s trust.

PN/Gendarmerie shot some guy who claims to be trying to whack someone for ISIL. No one knows if he's a lunatic or if he's a spree killer.

Someone opened fire on a group of Republican congressmen and staffers at a baseball practice this morning. Fortunately, one of them, House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, had a security detail assigned to him due to his position in Congress, and they were able to engage the shooter immediately. Overall it's sounding like six people wounded, including the shooter and Congressman Scalise.

When a woman tried escaping with Hodgkinson's daughter in a vehicle, Hodgkinson reached inside and “turned off the ignition,” the report said. “James then pulled out a possible pocket knife and cut [her] seatbelt.” The charges were dismissed, according to court records.

If you consider being a shitty person a serious issue then yes, but I'm not aware of any evidence that suggests mental health issues.

Fourth: Guys like that are almost never "just shitty people" but individuals with way more mental baggage than is healthy. Hell most shitty people have something that is leading to them acting out in the first place. He was living in what appears to be a transient fashion according to initial accounts from the city mayor. Hardly a stable situation for anyone to begin with never mind someone with a record of violence and what is increasingly looking like an obsession with political ideologies.

I think we should wait until we have actual evidence of mental health issues. I just believe that some people are simply more malevolent or callous than others and couple that with extremism and you don't need mental health issues to commit acts of terror.

I think you have it bang on the money. There are options as I understand it but I would bet dollars to donuts the court did not find it worth it due to constraints from caseloads, time, and money.

Pregnant woman calls police to report attempted burglary, is shot by Seattle police instead.
Charleena Lyles was living in transitional housing for homeless families in Seattle, according to the Seattle Patch, when she dialed 911 to report an attempted burglary. In a statement, Police Detective Mark Lyles wrote, “Although this was a typical burglary report, two officers were required due to information pertaining to this address that presented an increased risk to officers.”
KIRO 7 News reports that the police officers knew Lyles, so they sent two police officers because they were “concerned for their safety”—which is understandable, considering the threat of the undersized, petite woman whom family members called “tiny” and said, “weighs like, nothing, soaking wet.”
However, police officers said when they arrived at the fourth-floor apartment, Lyles confronted them with a knife, causing them to open fire on her, even though there were several children in the apartment with her.
Yes, people are bringing up her criminal record for good measure. Does this count as entering "worse than useless" territory yet?

Better sources said she brandished or attacked them with a kitchen knife (conflicting info, not clarified in any reports I've seen) and had a history of mental illness. Local PD doesn't seem to be on their side, stating that "they had less lethal options". Lot of info seems to be missing from everything; police say they sent two officers because of an unspecified previous history with the victim involving 911 calls.

While I don't deny there was almost certainly racial dimensions the fact that she attacked them makes it different, sure if there are non-lethal options available but she did attack them.
I mean, not to be that guy, but she attacked them, according to the people who shot her. Are there any other witnesses?
