Ok it was mentioned there is not a thread for Law Enforcement Officers (LEO for short)and other similar jobs for discussion.
This is for discussing the actual jobs, ranks, training, culture, relations to military bodies that exist, and any other variety of topics that can arise pertaining to the World of Policing.
That Motor Bike Gang thing exploded at the local Twin Peaks restaurant. The restaurant may be in a bit of trouble for their part in this event. Something like five different motor bike gangs were there when it went pear shaped. Well over 100 people were arrested.
Who watches the watchmen? It is in trouble. It was a franchise restaurant, and the owner refused to cooperate with the police despite knowing ahead of time that the gangs were all coming. The company has revoked its franchise status and the government has revoked their liquor licence for at least a week.
The liquor license is a moot point if their franchise has been yanked. It means the store effectively has to be gutted and remodeled before it can be used or come under new ownership.
They deserved for letting their greed get ahead of common sense and public safety.
Who watches the watchmen?I'm still trying to figure out what the restaurant was supposed to do. Evidently they didn't meet the security standards of the Twin Peaks chain, but I wasn't aware that your typical hot wing joint had security standards other than "lock the door at night and put the money in the safe"
[[Joking Mode: Liquor stores have at least 2 flamethrower equipped cyborgs. Didn't you know that?]]
"Any campaign world where an orc samurai can leap off a landcruiser to fight a herd of Bulbasaurs will always have my vote of confidence"AFP: I think they mean letting several groups of obviously warring gangs meet under one roof with booze in hand. If that doesn't scream you are a fucking idiot I don't know what does.
Who watches the watchmen? On the other hand, you would be saying no to five separate heavily-armed biker gangs...
What's precedent ever done for us?And? That is when you call the police. Most of them are not dumb enough to do anything overt.
Who watches the watchmen? They most likely didn't call the cops when. They should have. I have also seen several articles saying the crew was refusing to cooperate with law enforcement when they did arrive, so regardless, they were not being proper to their franchise contract even if they weren't exactly illegal in their actions.

Like, wow.
Were the cops breaking any laws there?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Apparently the man was a former police chief and all sources point to the judge presiding over the trial as being a good friend of his back when he held the position.
Honestly, that seriously sounds like grounds for the judge's disqualification in the case at the very least. Of course the courts in the area are denying allegations of nepotism and claiming the trial was completely fair.

Ok I first read that as '25 years' and I was all 'yay' then I continued reading....
Nope nothing suspicious there. Totally like the typical sentence anyone would get. /Sarcasm
What overt corrupt bullshit.
Who watches the watchmen? If my best friend pulled that shit, I would drop them in a jail so deep... If they are still his friends after that, what they did, he is scum.

Does anyone know how bond works?
My BFF was just arrested last night for missing her court date; she was stopped for a busted headlight a few months back but didn't have her Proof of Insurance with her, so she was ordered to appear in court to provide it; the vehicle was insured, but she had a phone app for the insurance that wasn't working.
She has a nocturnal work schedule as a newspaper deliverer and accidentally slept through her court date as a result. She was arrested last night/this morning while on her paper route. I've been informed that she has a bond of $250 that I need to pay to get her back.
I was under the impression that the way it works is I pay the money and she comes home, but others have told me that it's only a temporary release and she still has to go back for court, and then if she's found Not Guilty we get the money back but if she's Guilty then they maybe keep the money and she might have to go back into jail or whatever they sentence her with.

I think. Probably. Ask a lawyer.
Oh really when? She has to appear now for both the original warrant and the arrest.
If you bond her out, a bail bondsmen pays and you pay a percentage. If she doesn't appear, then the bondsmen are going to hunt her down and arrest her.

With further savings set to be made over the next five years, is the bobby on the beat - as the Police Federation of England and Wales has claimed - really now an "endangered species"?
Home Secretary Theresa May says that suggestion is wrong and has accused the federation - which represents rank and file police officers - of "scaremongering". She told its annual conference that although more savings needed to be made over the next five years, cuts could be made without affecting neighbourhood policing.
In Leicestershire, remaining neighbourhood officers will no longer investigate crimes or respond to emergencies. Instead, they will only deal with "core community activities", such as patrol, dealing with anti-social behaviour and engaging with people, Mr Graham added.
As the Police Federation are a bunch of proven corrupt shit stirrers willing to lie to the public I'd suggest taking anything they say with some serious salt.

If you can pay the bond out of pocket, the bondsman and the bounty hunters don't really get involved (I mean, unless you hire the bounty hunter to catch your friend if she skips bail)

Who watches the watchmen?
I can see where the polar bear's coming from. I didn't get far in my military experience, but I vividly remember my DSHEY bringing his laptop into the barracks once to set up a presentation. He showed us amateur footage from an Iraqi sniper who spoke into the camera, "I have 11 bullets here. 11 presents for President Bush." Then he filmed himself shooting 11 American soldiers in the head. He called it "Iraqi television." He also made a point of telling us that within two years' time, at least two of us in that room would be dead.
The message was clear for all of us. These people are the enemy. When engaged, they WILL kill you if you don't kill them. If you see them, you shoot. You don't wait to see what they're going to do. You don't give them the chance to raise their weapon. They are a threat and you take them out. You shoot to kill.
That's all well and good. Pros and cons of the warzone mindset are another topic entirely. Point is, that's not an appropriate attitude for police. That big black guy with the thing that may or may not be a gun from this angle, he's not The Enemy. He's not a foreign entity with malicious intent towards our way of life. He doesn't have a squadron of buddies ready to pounce. He's one of our people, the folks that soldiers are supposed to be protecting when they're out there shooting to kill.
