Greetings. This is the thread for requesting assistance with recovering a TV Tropes account for which you have forgotten the password.
Before posting here, please note that Get Known has a comprehensive set of instructions for managing your account. To summarize, password resets are limited as follows:
- If you have an associated email address, use the Lost Password link on the login screen to request a reset email. If that doesn't work, post here.
- If you do not have an associated email address but you are still logged in, you can register an email address and use it for recovering your password.
- If you do not have an associated email address, and have not used your previous account since September 18, 2013, we cannot verify your ownership for technical reasons.
- To verify ownership without an email address, and if you have used your previous account recently, you should be logged in on the same computer and/or Internet connection that you most recently edited or posted from.
- It is not currently possible for moderators to reset your password or change your registered email address. As a last resort, you may use our contact form to send a message to "The Staff".
Thanks for your understanding.

You can check your own password at the change password function (linked from the Get Known function) when you are logged in under the account in question.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI don't see where, though? I see a link to log out, Privacy Policy, and a "contact us" link from the Get Known page.
Hm, you're right. I'll poke Eddie about that.
Here is the password changing form. Your current password will be in there.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Okay, nevermind. My password and handle are both correct. I've done the reCaptcha 50 times. It still won't let me in. It's not telling me why, it just reloads back to the same page. Again and again.
It's not telling you that you got it wrong?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanDo it one more time (making sure you're correct) and then, even though it throws you back to the same page, go to the forums and see if you're logged in. You might well be. That issue has been reported before, though we had hoped it was resolved.
(ETA: There is now a link to the password change form from the login page.)

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Septimus: No, it doesn't show anything. Just reloads.
Telcontar: No luck. :( It's not showing any reply or posting options at the forum, my watchlist tells me "Sorry, we couldn't match your login information", and the page just reloads.

Make sure you're using the same case for your handle as you originally registered with. Certain parts of the login system are case-sensitive while others are not.
According to the user database, your handle is registered as 'Helterskelter', with a capital H.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Damn. I was hoping that was it, since I had previously been using all lowercase (which is how it shows up on everything, like "Keep it down! helterskelter is composing a post."), but I got the same effect.
Well, I figured it out. It won't let be logged in on Firefox if I'm logged in on Chrome. I'm not sure why, but that fixed it. Thanks!
So, this is Native Jovian. I tried to update my password, and now neither the new one or the old one work. I never hooked up an email account with it (I don't even remember that being an option when I made the account), so now I'm stuck. Help?
Yeah, emails weren't an option when you created Native Jovian. I've reset it for you; you can recreate it with a new email and password.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Aaaand I'm back. Many thanks for the assist.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Hi. I used to be lumbargo but I have no idea what to do to link an email to it. Can't remember my password, can't login without it, can't password recovery without an email, can't link an email without my password. Could I get a little help? Thanks in advance.
Lumbargo has been reset.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. Thanks kindly!
Hi, I used to be Anicomicgeek, I forgot my password (again), and I'm currently in a similar position that Lumbargo/lumb4rgo was. Could I please get some help? Thank you in advance.

I used to be Skeptical Pessimist. I would really like my old handle back, since it's the one I've done the most with. Exact same problem as Lumbargo had. Please help.

Main account is Bwburke94. Same problem as Lumbargo, I created the account in 2010 and didn't associate an email address with it.
- Anicomicgeek has been reset. Do you also use the account MakotoYuuki?
- bwburke94 has been reset. I'm also seeing the handle RallyBot2 on that IP. Familiar?
- There is not enough information to associate the handle ChaosKnight with the handle SkepticalPessimist.
For reset accounts, you must recreate them using the login form ASAP.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Thanks, I appreciate it. And, no, I don't use the alias Makoto Yuuki.
Troper Wall — DeviantArtHi there. My old account was DaddyMulk, but having made it before it was necessary to link an email to it, when I forgot the password I wasn't able to recover it anymore. Since I made lots of edits and some forum posts with that one, I'm asking if it is possible to bring it back. I had an even older account, LordFeder, but that one is inactive and not used any more, so I want it to be removed. Thanks!
Daddy Mulk has been reset. Lord Feder no longer exists, so it must have been purged for inactivity.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hi. Same as most people here, forgot the password to my account 'Mantlemask', which was made in the days we weren't required to have an email. Is there a way I could get it back?
I'm trying to switch from Chrome to Firefox, but unfortunately I don't remember the password to this account. May I have a reset, please?
EDIT: Password Reset is not sending to my e-mail, apparently.
