If I recall what little I know of the romhack from browsing the FE fandom, the Gary Stu self insert replaces Hector. So yeah, he's a Lord.

Also, why the fuck do you replace Hector?

Anywho, Retsupurae. I just noticed that the main channel finally links to slowbeef and Diabetus's youtube channels.

[up]Ah, hellfire and damnation.

at the very least I can make Kid the forerunner, leader and goddamn heroine of the group. If she has to be in this dreck she better make it worthwhile. Raul Julia up this bitch, make it worth sitting through.

I wonder if DB and Slow have seen the good stuff on Newgrounds, (yes I know ha ha) I'm talking like Happy Harry, (link: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Creator/HarryPartridge?from=Main.HappyHarry).

But highlighting the good stuff wouldn't exactly be funny. I just wonder if they've seen it.

Edit: Sorry guys I don't see the problem with wiki wording as long as it's not obnoxious "the entire message is covered in blue link words" stuff.

The reason for TV Tropes' reputation is probably This Troper, which cataloged the absolute worsts entries on the various pages. They're pretty bad. Were one only affiliated through that, this place would seemed like a festering filth pile.

And I've just met some obnoxious people on this site. One person was upset a work incorporated a sexist character in it, believing it was offensive and "promoted" sexism. The work took place in the early 20th century, and the character was presented as a complete idiot. It was completely unfathomable to me.

But every site's like that. 4chan's like that, SA's like that, Reddit's like that. You gotta sift through a lot of crap to find some quality conversation. I get that here, in this thread and a few others, so I'm find with TV Tropes. But this troper was really creepy.

I'll never get an SA account—it seems like a waste of money to spend $10 (and another $10 for archive access) when I'd probably get banned within a month. "Don't be an idiot" would be good advice, except what constitutes idiocy is subjective and arbitrary. I've seen people on SA get probated or banned for calling out bigoted speech on the grounds that they were being disruptive, for instance. I'm not the type to let that shit slide, so I'd be out on my ear in no time. The sitewide hatred of TV Tropes would also eat away at me.

And since I'd only consider joining for the Let's Plays, given the fact that video LPs are hosted on YouTube and I don't enjoy screencap LPs, I have no reason to join anyway.

The screencap LP is possibly the only way to make an enjoyable LP of an RPG that doesn't star Mario. Aside from cutting out entireties of dungeons and leaving only videos of cutscenes... which most of the good RPG screencap LPs already have.

But that was due to the personalities really. You need two really fun, energetic personalities bouncing off each other for a good VLP of an RPG.

I've seen a few RPG video LPs that I liked. Granted it's not easy to pull off, but it's doable.

I'm not that into RPGs in general, though, so I still don't feel like I'm missing out on much.

@Odie No, I'd say one person can do good LP's on their own. Depends on the game, the genre, and their knowledge/love of the game.

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I didn't have a particularly high opinion of Something Awful before getting into Retsupurae, so I don't think I'll be giving them money any time soon.

Eh, to each his own I guess. I lurked for 6 years before actually buying an SA account, but finally decided that since I enjoy the site so much I might as well pitch in money to help keep it running. At first I was worried about posting and getting banned after spending $10, but really all you have to do is not be stupid in your posts.

Also why am I suddenly posting here?

Hmm, well if that's all there is to it, I'm totally capable of that. Next paycheck I might actually go ahead and do so.

"This Troper" aside (which I will contend is still pretty hilarious, if creepy far too often), I don't quite get the perceived rivalry between SA and TVT. SA hates on literally everything. TVT tends to attract broken souls by the bushel, thus making it an easy target. If we would just have a sense of humor about ourselves and learn to take legitimate criticism (or at least least act on it more quickly than we historically have), there wouldn't be such a mess as this.

Besides, SA's got or at least used to have some pretty funny articles. Like this one, for instance.

Also, [up] I dunno, but come, stay awhile!

I like taking legit criticism. And SA just loves finding broken souls honestly. I feel sometimes life SA loves to be GIFT unless they're people like Slowbeef and Diabeetus or Pokecapn.

Basically the more well-known SA people admittedly are really nice guys. I think SA has it's own sterotype of being assholes.

What point was Anime Ham trying to make? I was seriously tempted to reply to his post with COOL STORY BRO

Long story short apparently they...brainwash people?

Also the bottom most discussion is funny too. SA IS TOTAL EVIL AND MUST NEVER HAVE THEIR GOOD DEEDS SPOKEN OF AND THEY MUST NOT BE PRAISED FOR ANYTHING
