Trust me the game isn't that hard if you have a good understanding of Mario physics. Which this guy clearly did not have.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I always found the original Mario hard (I don't recall ever beating it), so I don't know how well I'd do. Still, I suppose it's no Kaizo Mario...
So does Slowbeef even know who Chris-Chan is, or was that video a coincidence?
Kill all math nerdsI think they should've picked a video that showcased Chris' singing... erm, "ability". Like this or something. Those are always the worst. And did I just see a religious tract in a Sailor Moon fanfiction? I... honestly don't know what to say to that.
It's not just them. The guy is hated on Something Awful by the Let's Play community. He's loved by his fans, but he's The Scrappy there for a couple of reasons: for not using more than one video host for his Let's Plays. (Only using Youtube and Google Video and it's one or the other) And he refuses to accept criticism.

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I don't know how he really is, but I keep hearing that he isn't the nicest guy in real life, so I suppose the complaints aren't completely invalid. Not taking constructive criticism to heart isn't the best way to go about doing anything, though.
I don't get why it's wrong to use Youtube for hosting your videos, other than the fact that pretty much every video that's been Retsuputaed comes from there, and the fact that it had a 10 minute time limit that's now extended to 15 minutes.

...You know what makes that CWC video really creepy? Being named Jackie.
[huddles in a corner screaming, "How does the creepy manchild know my name? HOW DOES HE KNOW MY NAME!?"]
Having alternate video hosts is proper Let's Play etiquette over there apparently. In case one host goes down or is just slow.
So they finally riffed on the guy? I'd say that's a proper way to end things off.

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I've seen several LP threads where the only two choices are Viddler and Blip, and I can't watch Viddler videos since it takes a long time to load. Still, putting your video in more than one website is a good idea, but I wouldn't say it's a necessity.
Before Youtube got upgraded, it was kind of reviled. I don't think they think the same way about it now thanks to the HD option and 15 minute time limit.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I didn't realise there was youtube hate, nor do I understand it. It's pretty much the main site for random videos and probably the easiest way to get noticed. Huh.
Youtube used to have really really bad video quality.
Also, Deceased Crab was a bit of a dick in his Tyrian LP thread on Something Awful, but then just about everyone on that thread was a dick. Except raocow.
the future we had hoped forIn addition to poor quality video, there's the whole length limitation. Like what was said in a recent LP video, "What part are we up to now? 14, I think?" "Part... 72." "Hey now, let's not get into Youtube territory here."
The short limit of 10 minutes in the earlier days, plus the bad quality, plus the tendency for people not to edit their sets and to instead set a timer and run their videos cut into smaller-than-ten-minute sections, all led to Youtube being generally considered Not Very Good. Nowadays, with the HD option and the 15 minute time limit, I'd imagine it's easier to deal with. Plus, a fair number of LPers nowadays make their own playlists and do their videos in sets, so you can watch them in one solid chunk. Things have improved a lot.

Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit.If RP were gonna end their Webcam Ward they had to end it with a suitable bang. A Chris Chan riff was as good a choice as any considering how hideous Chris looked in that costume and the sordid story behind the guy.
Also I remember that video of Tylerwhatshisface playing mario Frustration. I heard it was a rip off of someone else, but it doesn't look tha thard at all. Maybe its difficult but there's complaining and there's just plain overreactions and exaggerations
Oh and that thread can be viewed at anytime now. It got sent to the Comedy Gas Chamber.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!God, that green background is terrible! Was that the point? I can't find the thread you're talking about...
Also, link to Comedy Gas Chamber.
You're not supposed to like the Comedy Gas Chamber. It's supposed to drive people off.
Here's the link.
What do you think is going to be riffed on next?
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I didn't read everything in that thread, but it seems Slowbeef wasn't as harsh on DC as I was expecting:
Either he changed his mind since then (it's been over 2 years), or he wasn't being completely serious when he made that Retsupurae video; after all, that Oyster RP was apparently an in-joke, and plenty of people thought it was actual criticism.
I swear they are at least aware of Spoony now (maybe not his Final Fantasy X review) because during Satantorium, Diabeetus said "Satantorium!" in a manner very familiar to how Spoony says another game's name.
Oh, and the frustration video is a very blatant rip off of that Gag Dub of another Mario Frustration game....but apparently, these two aren't the same ones. The "This is worse than X" comments cinch it. Meaning this is supposed to be a parody (which is weird, since the first Gag Dub was essentially a parody itself), or the guy really does suck so bad that he has to copy from what should be a well-known SMB hack video. I'm surprised they didn't catch that.

Chris-chan must have rubbed off on Slowbeef, because he's moving at Sonic Speed.
Kill all math nerdsApparently, there's also an Arise 4, and you can watch it on their blip.tv.
It's okay to like the Let's Players that were riffed on. Although don't expect to not have your tastes questioned if you like certain Let's Players.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Slowbeef speaking at Cornshaq speeds.
Cornbeef?
Keys, gears, square block in square hole... someone must have really thought "Man, Resident Evil made in flash would be cool but let's get rid of everything that made those games fun!"
But Arise 4 had a better ending then Saw 3D, I give them that. And it's better then Death Trap. Plus Cornbeef was really, really funny.
Mdickie should totally do the videogame adaption of Elemental Goddess.
