This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

"Wiki Magic" is not an excuse to make everyone do the hard work for you.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Noted I'll proof read better in the future and not launch anything with too few hats.
On a related note how the heck does one make the folders work? I tried copying the code from other pages and it just stayed the same when I put it into a new edit.
Wiki Magic means that other contributors will help the page flourish in the future. However, formatting and grammar should never be mangled overall. We'll all make a couple of mistakes, but you can't have a page full of wrong or no markup.
Folders work like this:
[[ folder:Film]]
- Blahblahblah
(Remove the spaces at the beginning of folder, of course)
You should know, however, that folder markup does not work in YKTTW, but will work properly on the wiki once you launch the article.
Let's see you take a look at Text-Formatting Rules and demonstrate you've gotten the hang of them.

"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerDemonstrate how? Like on this forum?
[[/folder:experimental]]
How many formated things should I post?
edited 18th Aug '12 4:19:58 AM by pcw2727
You need to post both to create a folder.
[[ folder:Sandworm]] -> This starts the folder.
[[/ folder]] -> This ends the folder.
Try creating one. Folder markup works in the forum though it looks a bit different from the wiki.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerOK, fine. I don't think this is the best way to do things, but if you restore my edit privileges, I'll personally move everything out of Batman/ and into Comicbook/.
After that, would it be OK if I started a thread in Wiki Talk to argue that a Batman/ namespace is a good idea?
Ukrainian Red CrossAbsolutely.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittySo...
test example
Like that?

When can I have my editing privileges back?
Yes, that's how folders work. Bravo.
I see you can post and spell properly, so it's a real shame when you make YKTTW with really sloppy errors, doubly so if you actually launch them like that. They don't have to be perfect, but not loaded with errors either.
Can we expect you'll take better care of YKTTW drafts in the future?
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerYes, yes, a thousand times YES! I realise fully my mistake, its ingrained in my brain what it is and I've spent the last five edits explaining it. Please may I have my editing privileges back again.
(Sorry for the long gap. I'm on vacation in Canada at the moment.)
Sorry about the This Troper thing. I'll try not to use that anymore.
As for grammer, Its terrible but I'm going to try to work on it more here, and the upcoming school year. I have a bad habit of trying to rush through things without checking, I've had a problem with it in schoolwork too, but i'll work on being more careful.
Can I ask why I get suspended I'd like to edit again, and frankly I wanted to fix all those things that I did in a wrong way
@Mew Lettuce Rush: If you can't write to an acceptable standard, your editing will just get revoked again. Are we clear on that?
@JSND: I just checked your edit history and my eyes kind of popped out of my head. It's one thing to use bad grammar and spelling, but you apparently didn't even check that the trope names were correct in your edits. Topping it off, you also seem to have a very poor idea of what Subverted Trope and In-Universe mean. Do you have anything to say for yourself?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Uhh i think i will re-consider my future edits then... grammar checks, extra tropes reading and what not Come to think of it, the Edits(mostly in 5D's) really are messy
Mostly i think that deleting some entries in Game-Breaker are pretty offensive, so i lessen that as well....
@JSND: I'll remove your suspension on one condition: that you go to this thread and get help with your writing. Your post above contains many errors that make me doubt that you are capable of writing to our standards. Demonstrate proficiency first, then I'll reinstate you.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Thats pretty neat, thanks
So I've been permabanned from editing, it seems. *sigh* :(
Why have you blocked me from editing? I mean, I know I was editwarring, but I wasn't even given a chance. I got banned immediately.
What a shame, this was my favorite wiki...
Now I'll have to leave... :(

@Mega: Did you read my reply? All I want is a response.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hi, I just saw that my edit privileges were suspended. Apparently it is because yesterday in the Armageddon YMMV thread I added an entry about the movie's Hatedom, not realizing that this was not allowed. I also wrote about the "Stop Having Fun" Guys trope, unaware that it was only for video game-relevant usage. Now that I am aware of these mistakes, I will be diligent in no longer repeating them, and I apologize for any extra work I may have caused. May I get my editing privileges returned?
Although that was the incident that brought you to our attention, you also seem to have a problem with Natter, Example Indentation, and editorializing on articles. The last is particularly a problem when you shoehorn tropes in order to insert your own opinions.
The wiki isn't a platform to complain about people or works you don't like.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.OK, I'll be more careful and try to exercise more Cautious Editing Judgment and consult the Wiki guidlines more often about what constitutes Natter. Sorry for any inconvenience. Is it OK for me to edit again?
@Paper Master yes I will put more work into my ykttw entries in the future.
@Fighteer
Sorry, I didn't notice you replied. ^^;
Anyway, I understand edit warring is wrong, and would never do it again.
I thought that was the point of "The magic of wikis" You could launch something pretty bare bones and then other people would fill stuff in.
I've launched worse and not gotten a complaint so I figured it was good enough. If you restore my editing status I'll fix up the page or return it to YKTTW.
