This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Xzenu: You were banned for posting walls of text on these topics. Continuing to post walls of text about them here is just reaffirming the reason for your ban. You have not changed your behaviour. You will not be unbanned at this time.

@shimaspawn: I haven't been told anything about too long forum posts until now. When you banned me from the TRS thread, your critique was against a suggested trope description, which is a very different thing. Making a few somewhat long posts on a subject ought to be okay. However, the thread you refer to was droning on forever. I can see how making a lot of lengthy posts in such a thread can amount to a problem.
@Moderators: So far, no-one has accused me of actually breaking any rules or policies of this site. The concerns voiced by Fighteer are very serious, because problems need to stop regardless of whether any rules get broken or not. However... my skills at second-guessing are limited, and so are yours. We need to communicate.
I tried to convince Fighteer that the problem was mostly with one special case, the Asian issue. Now shimaspawn confirm this by indicating that the banning was about the main thread for that one case. I can stay the hell away from that one issue if you want, without having to be banned from the rest of the wiki. Anyway, don't worry: I am not here to discuss the Asian issue again. Fighteer brought it up, and rightly so: It is the main problem here. Me explaining where I was coming from at the time seemed necessary for context, and I'm done with that now.
If there are any relevant problems left that you haven't told me about yet, maybe you can tell me about it now? First telling me that the problem is one thing, and then declare that my attempt to resolve it has failed because the problem was actually something else all along... Surely you can see that this is has a strong element of Moving the Goalposts, even if it wasn't intended that way? If you don't have time to talk with me, fine. (By the way: When and if one of you do feel like taking the time to communicate with me... maybe a chat might be a better way to talk things through?)

Like just about everyone else that has posted in this topic, I have just discovered my editing privileges have been suspended for unspecified reasons, and I would like to know what those reasons are so I know not to do it again.

Just lay off the edit reasons like "IT ISN'T THAT @^#$%&#$ HARD!"
They just create a negative environment and don't do anything to cure the problem.

@Ragna The Saviour: While you haven't responded to us yet, based on your history of going off on rants at people, we don't see any point in letting you edit again. I'm afraid you simply don't get the "don't be a dick" rule of the wiki.
@jakyoku: I'll give you an opportunity to demonstrate that you understand our editing policies. Suspension lifted. Please take care in the future.
@Xzenu: Once again, the fact that you replied to our concerns about your Wall of Text editing habits with more walls of text only makes us more certain that suspending you was the right thing to do. This has gone beyond miscommunication; you are really not understanding the purpose of the wiki. We are willing to propose a compromise, which is that we'll enable your wiki privileges but restrain you from YKTTW and Trope Repair Shop. If that's acceptable, let us know. In brief language.
@EJO1: You've been suspended for an Edit War in The French Revolution over the People's Republic of Tyranny trope. Please discuss contested examples, don't just add them back.
@redjirachi: I'm afraid that it's not clear to us that you understand the rules and will comply with them. Wanting to edit WMG articles is not sufficient reason to let you edit other articles if you're going to continue to natter under the impression that it's not wrong if you don't get caught. Your suspension will remain.

@Fighteer: I can admit to taking up too much of your time, and apologize for that. I can admit to being late with getting some valid points you wanted me to get. The last few posts gave me the info I needed.
I don't plan to start any new YKTTW projects anyhow, lost interest in June. (Triggered by the harsh tone you had with me, not by any point you tried to get across.) But if you permit, I'd like to finish Manji Swastika and Big Brother Loves Watching. With or without that, the deal is acceptable.

Really? I thought I got it. I understand that, in editing articles, I refrain from putting in anything but the relevant facts. If the trope already has the relevant facts, I do not add any more simply because I personally think it fits.

First off, you seem to have no concept of capitalisation, as your above post demonstrates, in addition to the fact you seem to have lost punctuation somewhere along the line. That in and of itself is a problem. You were suspended because it was deemed that what you were adding was generally incomprehensible.
Secondly, this is not the first time you have been banned. It is very rare for us to give people third chances. I hope you have a good reason why we should.

You will either have to be very careful with your edits and double check them so you can revert potential connection screwups, or wait to edit until you get some reliable internet. Either way, I'll lift your suspension on the promise that we will have no more issues with wiping pages in half. Understood?

@Fighteer Sorry about the edit war. I thought that the existing caption was incorrect, and I wanted to correct it using facts. >.<
Okay, back after getting some sleep.
@Fighteer Judging from the special case with prejudice against Asians, I can understand how you got the impression that my focus is with real life rather than fiction. And yes, there are some other instances where one could get that impression. But It's not all that representative. On the contrary, I was the one who started the No Real Life Examples Please page. Many of the tropes I have started are incapable of having real life examples - usually because they are about fictional concepts used in Science fiction, or because real life doesn't have a available narrative structure like works of fiction does.
I have started over 140 trope pages. A huge majority of these are not connected to race or sexuality, are not very long or academic, and wouldn't really have any use for an analysis page. So I would like to point out that the problems you are bringing up are with a small minority of the stuff I have written here on TV Tropes.
Lets have a look at Asian Hooker Stereotype, starting with the description used before June. (Both versions are available in the TRS thread
.) Using the three points I mentioned before (valid/worthwhile/good-to-read). I'd say it could be considered valid although far from optimal, and might also be too specific to be worthwhile. Good read? Nah, the description sucked. Fussy, preachy and more preoccupied with prejudice in real life than with how prejudice is used as narrative tools in fiction.
Did the text revision on July 1 really add any problems with the trope? Or magnify the problems already there? As far as I can see, the trope itself hasn't changed at all. As for the description, the new version is shorter, clearer, less preachy, and more focused on how it can be used in fiction. I'm not saying that the trope is good in it's current state. Only that the problems were already there when we had our conversation in June.
Like you said, this is not about any one issue. The ykttw thread and the July 1 update to AHS were triggers, not the actual reason you banned me. Your post yesterday, 1468 in this thread, is the first time you start discussing what the problem is in any detail whatsoever.
As for Asian Hooker Stereotype being too specific.... A page on racial stereotyping in general might be preferable to a page on a particular form of racial stereotyping - which of course brings us to the issue on whether or not we'd like to open this particular can of worms in the first place. However, quitting being so specific about races might be the best solution to the whole Asian Gal with White Guy mess: Change the whole thing into Imbalanced Mixed Marriage, regardless of what races - real life races or otherwise - are used in the work.
I don't have a hangup with race relations in real life or with how race relations are portrayed in works of fiction: What I have had a hangup with is how portrayals of race mixing in fiction used to be categorized on the tvtropes page "Me love you long time". Seriously, the romance between Wolverine and Mariko was one of the love stories I grew up with. I liked it. And I did not appreciate when the "Me Love You Long Time" page made it look as if Mariko was some sort of whore, simply because Wolverine was white. If I had good reason to be preachy, and I still think I did, it doesn't excuse the preachy attitude I have had. I should have backed off on my own and refused to let it trigger me. Still, I think it would be a mistake to put this problem only on me personally.
