This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

I hate to mention this again, but it seems I got buried under the pile.
Forum suspended. Asking for length of suspension.
I was suspended from editing and I'm not sure why. What did I do wrong, and how night I fix it in the future?
~Darth Walrus: I'm really not sure what there is to say to you. Stop editing the World of Warcraft articles entirely or get a permanent ban? Have we resolved this whole "Garrosh is Hitler" business?
~Retro Active Liar: Indefinitely. You get your kicks out of trolling people over issues of race and gender. I really ought not have to tell you what's wrong with this.
~Craft Spider: You are running a browser plugin that alters the text of web pages that you visit. When you edit an article on this wiki, the plugin runs on the text in the edit box and submits the changed text back to the wiki. This is considered vandalism. Either uninstall the plugin or add a site exception for tvtropes.org.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Honestly..............Not quite. Everyone else seems to have left the discussion.
On the subject of that, I really don't see how it's not at the very least Does This Remind You of Anything?, and the discussion seems to have grinded to a halt.
How do I get my "kicks" from "trolling" people about race and gender?
I could understand if this was some multiple thread multi attack thing in a short period of time, but I got banned from OTC for going against the grain of the mentality of "minorities can do no wrong" that is prevelant in the "Race" thread, cause as Latin it offends me.
And what is this about gender? I said that mad max wasn't a feminist film, got half way through writing a long ass post realized that it was the wrong audience to even commit that much time to, got a reply clearly didn't read my post, insulted me, and then I laughed my way out of a non OTC topic. Is saying something is not feminist an attack on gender?
I mean if you said that I was overly hostile and that's why I was banned, I would accept that. That's fine and fair, but trolling because two sets of posts went against the grain many months apart?
Anyways, I know that it's pointless to argue with mods and a ban is a ban, but I just want some clarification.
And if it ain't to much, can you PM a user called Death_vlk and tell him I got banned from the forums, but that it's okay cause I didn't want to talk about hockey anyways?
Cause you guys also took my ability to PM people. And now my little flag is stuck at a number 1 and I can't remove the pm messenger from my screen.
Oh! I'm sorry, I forget about it as I'm so used to it being there my mind automatically forgets about it except in amusing contexts. I'll make sure to add an exception and watch out for it in the future.
Got my pm system to work, so never mind on the message.
I want to talk regarding my suspension. I have no defense. I went overboard. I apologize and promise that it won't happen again.
~Craft Spider: That's good. Let's not have a repeat, because we don't give third chances for the same violation. Suspension lifted.
~Manw0name: Thanks, but before accepting any apology, we'll need to understand more clearly why you did all that deleting.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I was in a bad mood and something someone wrote annoyed me. I've given myself a good hard mental slap for acting that way and I'm putting some effort into being more even tempered.
I was suspended from editing as I received four PM's in a row (in a very short period of time) about how I was "Too Conversational" in my edits. I will do my best to try to rectify this in the future, though a time period as for how long I will be suspended would be very appreciated. I can be contacted via PM, if that is acceptable.
Maxim 34: If your gun is leaving scorch marks, you're not using a big enough gun. -Schlock Mercenary~Sithking Zero: We deal with edit suspensions in this topic, not via PM.
Your edits contain a vast quantity of what we call natter, or Conversation In The Main Page. Wiki articles are not chatrooms; you do not argue with, debate, contradict, justify, explain, or otherwise discuss examples within the article. If there is an error in an example, fix it yourself, or delete it if the example is wrong.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~Retro Active Liar: On further investigation, you are clearly a sockpuppet of Infallible Liar and Offensive Handle, two accounts used for blatant forum trolling. You will not be permitted back, ever, under any circumstances. Good riddance.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Right. Here's the thing, though: we can't have your bad moods affecting our site. I'm sure you understand that. If you get a temper tantrum and damage the site, we're going to care about the site and not your temper. That's how it works.
We believe in second chances, though, so I'm going to lift your suspension. I trust that you won't let your emotions take control of you like that again. If you're upset or angry you should do something else for a while - have a cup of tea or watch an episode of something - and then come back. Don't make decisions when you're not calm; it just leads to trouble. As I said I'm lifting the suspension. If this problem repeats we won't give you another chance.

Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.I see. I was unaware that this was unacceptable, and I'm sorry for the PM. I'll try to be less conversational in the future, and I apologize for the style of writing I used.

Maxim 34: If your gun is leaving scorch marks, you're not using a big enough gun. -Schlock MercenaryHello mods
I'm suspended from the main wiki and posting turned off for the forums, but I honestly can't remember why. It was a long time ago i think but i can't remember i could be wildly off my mark about that.
anyway i would like to rejoin the Trope community but I would also like know what i did wrong the first time so I can make sure i don't repeat my error or errors.
Profile image made by Bulhakov~Sithking Zero: Alright. If you want to talk to other tropers about the content of the articles, please use the PM system, the Discussion pages, Ask The Tropers, or even these forums. I'll lift your suspension.
~Dragonkingofthestars: Your writing is not up to our standards, and includes a great many mistakes, such as poor grammar, natter, use of first person, and incorrect indentation. It seems like you haven't taken any time to try to learn how to edit well. Apparently, the admin who banned you also decided your writing was too poor for our forums, but I don't feel the need to keep that up.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hey, er, I got suspended and I'm not really sure what I did. I've removed and added stuff here and there but none of it really seemed egregious to me- if I've made some grave misstep I would appreciate knowing so I can not do that thing in the future.
Yup that sounds like me, back in the day I used to be completely dreadful with my grammar. As I said I think my last edit was a while ago, and grammar is something that improves over time. May I request a chance to prove that I have improved Or do I need to spend time posting to the forums to prove I've improved first.
regardless on the answer for the TV trope wiki in general, thank you for revoking the ban on the forums.
Profile image made by Bulhakov~Wicked Icon: There are two issues here. First, you are reportedly using, or have used, a browser plugin that performs text substitutions. Those are banned on the wiki because they alter the text of articles when you edit them. You must either uninstall them or add a site exception for tvtropes.org.
Second, you ignored the warning tag on Depraved Kids' Show Host about adding real-life examples, and what you added was a Zero Context Example anyway. Serious editing mistakes like that cannot be ignored.
~Dragonkingofthestars: We have a forum topic where you can post examples that you would like to add to the wiki and get critiqued by other tropers. Try using that a bit and we'll see where you are.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"...oy. Completely did not realize that Cloud to Butt messed around with stuff on the wiki. I'll turn that off, thanks for the heads-up. Apologies on the second one- straight up did not see the note about no real life examples and thought it was a blindingly obvious omission.

Ok, WHY was I banned? I received no messages, and I haven't logged in for a few days now!
I should add, by way of explanation, that there are certain IP address ranges that have special meanings, such as the 192.168.x.x range (for private networks). 127.0.0.1 is the localhost address; it is used by your computer to conduct diagnostics. For you to be broadcasting 127.0.0.1 as your public IP means that either your ISP is doing something wrong or you're using a misconfigured proxy. Either way, we are unable to validate your account.
