This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Hi ... I've been banned, and I would like to know why, and what it is you want me to do or not do if I am re-instated. I'm completely puzzled about the reason why — I suspect it may have had to do with the page I created for a MLP fanfic "Collateral Damage" which accidentally crossed-over in the sub-pages (Awesome, etc.) with the MOVIE "Collateral Damage." I then erased the pages I'd created — to which I'd been the only contributor — and recreated their content as "MLP Collateral Damage." Was this the issue, or was there something else of which I was unaware?
There also was some unindexed Awesome page somewhere, which might have also been the issue.
Thing is, no one has told me nor have they re-instated me, so there's nothing I can do about this since I don't know what was the problem nor can I fix it.

That was the issue, and since you've explained what caused it, and it wasn't maliciousness or vandalism, I've removed the edit block. Don't blank pages to remove them, though. Use the cutlist. Page blanking, especially page blanking without an edit reason, always trips the "vandalism" alarm.

The reason why I have been unfairly suspended from editing is because I have profanity filter installed on Google Chrome. What should I do? Thanks!

Yeah, "unfairly suspended." Nope. You're running a nannybot that changes every instance of the word "god" to "gosh" regardless of context, leading to such nonsense as

The thing is nannybots are stupid. They can't tell if a use of the word is acceptable in the context it's used in. All they can see it that it's there and they must change it so it isn't there anymore.

Hey, I've been banned from editing, I'm not completely sure of the reason but I'll be more careful and thoughtful when editing if you decide to unban me. Sorry, it's my first time.
You were banned for uncommenting Zero Context Examples and ignoring warnings not to do that.

I was given a suspension notice recently for what I believe was not crosswicking the pages I created for the individual Universal Studios attractions and also for not fully building them out first before making a new page. If this is the case, I do confess my guilt. I admit I was a litte overly-enthusiastic on trying to expand the theme park side of TV Tropes and was not giving myself the patience to do things like crosswicking. I assure you that I will be better at things like this in the future and I do apologize if I've caused any trouble.

That's what it was, indeed.
Using the Sandbox. namespace for building pages is strongly suggested; pages there are treated as "unfinished", so we're much more lenient about things like Zero Context Examples and incomplete crosswicking there, and we don't want them added to indexes. The indexing should be done as soon as you move finished pages into the main wiki.

~Kira1980: Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. The big problem here is that this is your third suspension for wiki issues in less than a year, and that's usually a death sentence for anyone's editing privileges. In fact, your first suspension and this latest one are for the exact same reason: ignoring clear instructions in the page coding about how to handle images on the pages. Personally, I'm not inclined to be lenient.

I became suspended from editing today for adding AFI accolades to movies' pages, not knowing that they have no place in main descriptions. However, I did not receive a message telling me how long this suspension would last. When will it end? I promise that my first activity afterward will involve removing references to those charts. Should I remove Oscar wins from the descriptions as well?
Additionally, someone should probably remove what I wrote on AFIS 100 Years 100 Movies, encouraging other Tropers to reference these charts on movies' pages.

As you can tell by my history of editing, I have made many valuable contributions to trope pages as well as clarifying the details surrounding the tropes themselves for purposes of insuring that they are used properly.in the future, I will exercise greater care to make myself aware of notices and warnings such as those you have mentioned. However, if all the moderators feel strongly that I should no longer edit, please inform me when possible once you have a reached a final decision.
