I never did say that I was going to play video games in a fursuit. I'd probably just record the game play with a Hauppauge hd pvr and I'd record myself in a fursuit when I review the game that I played. If I were to record myself playing games in a fursuit then it would probably be in a partial fursuit and not a full one. But I just figured that I will probably do it since I love playing video games and I can possibly make a bit of a name for myself.

But full fursuit induced clumsyness would be funny.

Especially in online action games. Turn based games wouldn't really be affected by the impaired vision and dexterity of a full fursuit.

Playing VR games would probably work just fine in a fursuit.

I really do want to try this out, except that I have to wait a while for a few things.

First off, I actually need a Hauppauge HD PVR, Gaming Edition 2 preferably, so that I can actually record my video game footage. I'll try to get my hands on one sometime this month hopefully.

Secondly, I don't need one per se, but I want to get my hands on a newer computer model instead of using the one that I'm currently using. I mean they do say that it's best to use more recent computers to record video games with. I'll either get it in July or August, whenever my rent rebate comes back.

Thirdly, if I were to want to record myself either playing video games in a fursuit (which I've also got to save up for as well and it'll probably be more than $2000 for a good one) I believe that I would need to use a webcam to record myself. Now I'm not all guaranteed if you can use a webcam to record yourself because I am rather new to that sort of thing, but hopefully It will be fine. It looks like Logitech has a somewhat expensive one which means that it's probably one of the best versions.

And finally, I will also need a pair of good gaming headphones that I can use to record my voice while I do let's plays. So yeah, I have quite a ways to go until I will have everything to begin doing let's plays. Thankfully I got a job not too long ago, so with it I can make some real money and start saving up for everything that I will need.

I was really joking about the whole fursuit gaming.

Especially since that's a lot of money to spend on something that might not take off.

But if you're doing it for your own fun and don't care about money, go ahead!

Well I figure'd that since I love video games a lot (I mean I have nearly a hundred with more coming in the near future,) that I might as well give Let's Plays a chance and possibly in a fursuit. Granted, even with my current job, I would more than likely have to wait until closer towards the end of the year to afford one, not to mention I'm waiting on my sister to draw me a reference sheet of my character but until then I can just do normal Let's Plays. And even if I were to become extremely popular in one month (which I'm not anticipating for,) it doesn't mean that I can't do other things in the fandom like going to conventions.

That was a fun if slightly awkward survey.

I would not review things in a fursuit. Those are expensive and hot and often kind of weird me out. I would, however, wear Nepeta's cat hat and claw gloves, because I know *exactly* what kind of garbage I am.

On a related note, I find it odd how I tend to have little interest in overtly "furry" writing, but I'm writing a beast epic. I mean, at the end of the day it's just that I don't put much stock in writing to a niche audience without a hook better than "look, animal-people!" It works better in comics because you can have a lot of fun with that visually, but you need something equivalently skewed with respect to premise or setting to make a prose work pop, I think.

...I prefer to just be straight with people and say it makes me feel less awkward than looking at photos of actual naked people. >~>

Although I do just like the animal-people aesthetic in visual art in general. It's a nice way to ensure variety and a certain degree of comfortable strangeness into a scene. This also goes for stuff with distinctly non-human characters that isn't furry per se—Vattu, for instance.

Maybe I just don't like people very much. I dunno.

Eh, I have seen some furry porn. It's not jam packed with fetishes as most people assume. Just look at deviantart without filters on and you will see a lot of normal softcore porn with fetishes all over the place.....

Furry porn is just as weird as any other variety of porn. It's just that the fandom it's associated with is chiefly known for that, so it's an easy target to hate on.

There's a very large number of anime fans into prepubescent girls but everyone knows anime is a whole lot more than just loli pandering.

I'll be completely honest here: I'm not very fond of furry porn myself, especially when a comic specifically focuses on the sex and not much else. I'm also not fond of it when a comic is too dirty.

That being said, I don't mind works that don't focus entirely on the sex like Mekko Rarekko which has a surprisingly strong and moving plot. The same can also be said about Morenatsu. Yes it does focus a bit on the sex scenes when they occur, but it also has a good plot to back it up and to make it better than most others.

Between those two and a short lived fighting game doujin called Monster, I wonder why it is the bara wing of the Japanese kemono community's stuff seems to catch western eyes more than other parts of the fandom in their neck of woods? Not complaining, but I think the kemono community could help perception of furries in general a lot, if only by virtue of the fact that a lot of people on the internet worship the ground Japanese artists walk on.

[up][up][up]Pretty much yeah I will agree.

There is also the animal element that ignorant people just love to bring up. People will see animal as interchangeable with furry stuff. This is despite the fact that furry art in general is characterized as basically being anthromorphic animals, or animal people with there own thought processes and body builds much like a human's pretty much. Some people do occasionally put in more animal-like traits on there characters but it doesn't generally dismiss the displayed sapience.

And yeah I will admit that the loli and brother/sister incest stuff that pops up occasionally in anime disgusts me for obvious reasons (I quit watching Bungou Stray Dogs partly due to this). But I do not think all anime is like that nor will I go out of my way to shame anyone....

[up][up] The simple answer is because gay underground comics culture and furry culture in Japan are really closely related. I think it's sort of like how the whole furry thing emerged out of the science fiction fandom over here, but with more muscle bears—literal and otherwise.

(Ironically, my current avatar is by one of the few female Japanese artists in that vein that I have encountered, although she draws fewer animal-people than she used to.)

Hello to the both of you.

Can't seem to make any creative fursonas. They're always foxes. I guess my animal is just a fox, then... Which is unfortunate, because they're common.

Step 1: Don't care what others think/say.

Step 2: Do what you want.

Step 3: CAUSE A PIRATE IS FREE! YOU ARE A PIRATE!

Nah but really, who cares what is common? When you start worrying too much about avoiding certain species or traits you'll really limit yourself.

Also, if you're not interested in anything but foxes, why force yourself into an unusual animal just to be unique? You won't enjoy the character unless there's something about that animal you like, anyway.
