I think it's vaguely Indian, but the only real data point I have for that is that it's where the lassi drink was created, in FFXIV.

One dumb idea that's been kicking around my head for a while for the Chemist class is as a healer who throws around potions (with some handwave about how their creations need the Chemist's own personal aether to remain stable and functional, which is why they aren't inventory items and do cost MP to use), and uses a crossbow (since guns are already taken) as their weapon to deliver various substances into their enemies, and occasionally their party members, with their main "draw" being a "drain healer"

For anyone who completed the Red Mage storyline, do you think the Arya character has some similarities to Aya in Parasite Eve? Spoiling this out for those who haven't gotten far:

She has powers she doesn't understand at first. She has a personal tie to the Big Bad. Her friends support her even after she nearly succumbs to the same feeding lust that Lambard went under. She also gets over the Big Bad trying to manipulate her and fights back with determination. To compare, Aya freaks out a bit when her powers awaken and she doesn't understand why she has said powers at first. The Big Bad in her game has the same powers as her and she's connected to her due to Aya's sister's organs being transplanted into another girl, which is how the Big Bad came to be. Even when Aya thinks she's a monster, her friends still stick by her side. Both Aya and Arya are young girls with short blonde hair and Arya is basically Aya with an "R" added on. Is this a deliberate Expy or just a reallllllly big coincidence?

Just watched a guide for Deltascape 4.0 Savage, and holy shit that is a lot of stuff to deal with. I could barely keep track of it all in a slowed-down guide. Doing the actual battle must be quite the experience indeed.

Redownloaded the game for the first time in over a year.

What the hell happened to my cross-class actions? I don't think anything's different with my non-combat disciplines, but...

For Stormblood, they decided to replace the cross-class action system with a Role action system. Largely because they no longer wanted to force players to play classes they have no interest in just to pick up crucial actions like Provoke, Swiftcast, Protect, or Quelling Strikes.

You still have 5 slots in which to place additional actions, but they now are all unlocked regardless of what classes you've leveled up, and they're all specific to your role (Tank, Healer, Ranged DPS, Melee DPS, Caster DPS). This has resulted in some jobs getting powerful new actions, but also in some old and powerful Cross-class options going away; it's something of a rebalancing in addition to being a player convenience thing.

It does have a minor level lock, though.

Each role skill has a level tied to it, so you have to level the class to at least that point to use it. But, once you've unlocked it, it's always there, even if you get level synced down. This also works in reverse, that you won't get them if you take a low level class/job into Pot D, and head to the deeper parts where your levels are capped.

Classes can equip all ten at once, Jobs have to choose between five.

I bought Final Fantasy XIV.

I'm Level 12, but I'm hoping to be Level 15 by the end of the night.

They made it insanely easy to level up in the beginning parts. You'll hit level 50 quite soon.

I'm starting as a Thaumaturge, so I can't wait to become Black Mage. Red Mage when I get Stormblood.

Did some tanking for the first time in over a year. God my skills are rusty. Probably didn't help that I was running the game's worst dungeon for the first time, or that I was trying out a screen resolution that was significantly lower than usual in order to address some framerate issues.

At least my team was forgiving. Both DPS were friends of mine who'd been unsubbed for even longer than I was, and the healer was absurdly nice and patient and helpful (and also mained pally).

I feel like full dungeon pulls aren't viable in the latest content yet. Even if my gear is decent, the healer or DPS can be as low as 290, and the two tanks I play have a hard time recovering from low health (Both DRK and WAR's ultimate cooldown just keep you alive, they don't aid recovering from that position).

yeah it seems the devs are trying to discourage speed running again by making everything hit like a truck.

In my latest dungeon run, I got locked out of the boss fight because people went in while I was doing cutscenes. Sad day.

I recently encountered a near-wipe in Bardam's Mettle on a trash pull. Wasn't even an overpull. Just shit was hitting like freight trains and I had to play emergency tank.

That dungeon seems to be as difficult as the Vault for trash mobs. It really puts tanks and healers to the test.
