I think people at the end game use them for the stat boosts. You know how some people get with numbers.

I find it hard to remember a time when I didn't have the rested bonus now. That's another advantage of having multiple characters, one rests while you play the other. Farron and Sparrow have both had their main and secondary jobs maxed for months anyway, so they haven't use their rest bonuses for a long time, and Galion had a lot backed up (though I used a lot of it when I started leveling him as a Conjurer, and now it's built up again because I play Farron and Sparrow more).

I just ran into some of the worst kind of players.

I did DF for Titan-X (yeah, I know, sometimes you get some practice in before the wipe). Things went badly right away: the other healer died twice, on plumes both times. Obviously this lead to a wipe. Here's where things get ugly. The others asked if she knew the strat, and she said that she'd seen a video. They apparently didn't take kindly to her being a first-timer, and kicked her for cheating (I voted against, but it carried anyway). So I called them out on being dicks. They proceeded to cheerfully kick me too.

Turns out half of them were members of an FC on Zodiark. I'm just glad that's not my server, but even so.

Some people do suck. I do my best to help first-timers if I can.

That's why I avoid Primal extremes and the Coil at all costs. The frustrations of wiping plus the dicks of people who will yell at you for not being perfect is not worth the gear rewards.

Using food for stats is considered pretty essential for endgame stuff (not just by number crunchers), but there's a fairly limited set of what people actually use. These items can be reasonably profitable if you are looking to make money on the market. If you aren't into doing that and you aren't doing it to support a group of fellow players, you're probably going to get fairly limited use out of it compared to other crafting classes. If you do get into any serious crafting, the cross-class skills from Cullinarian are among the essential ones (Hasty Touch and Steady Hand II in particular).

[up]I have the advantage of a really awesome FC made up of cool people; finding a good static group of non-jerks is pretty important to Coil. Failing that, Party Finder is generally going to be better than Duty Finder.

It's hard finding people in general, plus I'm pretty much skipping the coil and primals. Just don't want to frustrate myself.

[up] I think you may also have to skip the Relics as well since I think those require slaying the primals.

Ifrit HM is a joke, Titan HM is pretty simple once you get it down, and Garuda is a bitch and a half but not exactly a hair-pulling endeavor.

Then again, I've just recently cleared Garuda EX (after about 12 tries) and I almost look back on Garuda HM as a refreshing breeze in comparison.

[up]And yes, you have to do the H Ms to get your relics. Each time.

Okay, I'm going to link a thread from the official forums here, because I think it's important:

Tumblr thinks we're as bad as LoL? And the worst part is, I can see their point.

I said awhile back that I'm avoiding primal extremes. Relics require beating the hard mode of the primals, which i did last year before the echo buff.

Speaking of Primals I'm gonna face titan later today.

It may be because I'm on an RP server, but I've never really noticed much dickery in the community. My own ex-FC notwithstanding.

[up]Story, HM, EX?

Most of the dickery I've seen is people, usually tanks, in the duty finder waiting for it to pop, then withdrawing and making everyone else wait again. Only last night I began a dungeon with a party, and the tank immediately turned and left without any explanation.

Oh, wait, my least favourite thing is speedrunners. I have nothing against speedruns, but you should not join a dungeon through duty finder to do one without agreeing at the start that everyone wants to do one. I was forced to abandon a roulette in Brayflox HM because, after the second boss, two people voted to dismiss the other party member and then left themselves (I guess they dismissed him so that they wouldn't suffer the lockout penalty for quitting).

Thankfully, that hasn't happened for a while. If you're going to speedrun/farm like that, do it through the party finder, so everyone is on board with the idea.

People only care about the grind for Mythology tomes thanks to the pain in the ass Animus system, so they are going to speed run to minimize the pain, other players be damned.

I also tend to see many end game tanks doing massive trash mob pulls in dungeons and they sometimes either take on more than they can chew or take on too many for my healing to counteract. What really pisses me off are people who decide to run ahead before I can buff theme.

Those are dumbshit tanks. Whenever I land in Bray I do half-speed pulls, usually two groups instead of the up-to-four, to strike a balance between appeasing speedrunners and not overwhelming the healer and getting my ass murdered. I really don't like to die, nope. And when any dungeon starts, my ass grows roots until the healer has done all their casts and put their staff away again.

As a healer, I also tend to throw my weight around a bit for boss fights like tossing Areo, Areo 2, and Virus.

It's spelled "Aero".

Yeah, I do that as well. I can get even more out when I play SCH, as well as Shadow Flare slowing all enemies and reducing the healing I need to do a little.

I didn't really see how powerful Holy was pre-nerf, but now I get a lot of use out of it. It's a shame it eats up MP so voraciously, and on the one class that can legitimately go OOM.

You know the character page might use an update. I can't find Nanamo on the sheet, the Sylph are the only beastmen listed and I'm certain the Holy See people deserve a spot (as does the Company of Heroes)

Oh the trope page has serious issues. We need to filter out the 1.0 tropes and give them their own page, for starters. Or start another page for ARR and move all the newer tropes there.
