It's matter of if Tats is going to confirm, or he's going to again ignore plot threads until he feels like expanding on them. Also often times when he makes arcs these days it comes off as being anticlimatic in nature.
Tats is playing a long game. He planted some of the clues about Vainglorious years ago (from his very first appearance, if you include the horns).
And why not? Why shouldn't he drag things out as long as possible? What does he have to gain by resolving things?
I'm just surprised he didn't keep Ms. Liberty in a coma until 2020.
It doesn't really keep up the mystery, but just makes people annoyed about when you are finally going to confirm what we all been speculating on.
And it doesn't help that Tats absolutely sucks at building any tension. Struggle makes for an engaging character and story.
He's got the habit of handing everything to his heroes on a silver plate the villains are the only interesting (and therefore likeable!) characters left.
Also: so what if the non-reveal (for I'm guessing pretty much everyone at this point) is that Auntler is the mother of Vainglorious and Satan the father? It doesn't mean anything in the narrative! It doesn't add anything substantial, it doesn't upset the story. We already know Auntler hates anything involving the Devil.
As seen with the Sambot vs Dragon arc, the Dragon beat Sam and they got rid of the forest fire as easy as pie. He could have made the forest fire thing a little bit longer to cause some tension, but nope Aunt Kate summons rains and it is all over.
I'm glad you brought that up, because The Webcomics Review actually brought up a bit of a plothole with that.
Remember how Xanthe was using that rain to power her bike? The last time that happened, she was using God's tears for it, which came down as rain. But this time the rain wasn't tears. It wasn't even caused by God. This was rain summoned by a witch. On EVERY level there, it shouldn't have worked.
Yeah, Tats' inconstituency is now going from his metaphors to even his pre-established rules.
Maybe the spell Kate cast was one to make God cry.
Maybe all rain is God's tears?

He continues to be the best character.
Oh look. Old Tats managed to escape his cage for a bit
Yeah, this feels very strange. I have nothing to complain about! The Vainglorious strips are character-driven and funny, and they don't lecture ...
Who is this cartoonist, and what has he done with Radfem Tats?
It's like Vainglorious has become the exception to rule when it comes to male portrayal in Sister Fest.
Added bit of humor considering we hated his guts when he showed up, mostly because he was going full on Gary Stu.
Then he started actually being funny.
All the actual humor in the strip seems to have gone to him.
I'm reading the "Hiyo, Silver" panel in Jim Carrey's voice; it makes it even funnier

So basically he's the Anti-Sinfest encapsulated into One Char.
At least until Tats tries to use him to shill his latest butt bug, such as with the brothel advertisement he got.
My working theory is that he is still tolerable because:
A. He's being fun without being spiteful. Especially that last part is important, since what passes for comedy nowadays in Tats's mind is mostly hateful towards someone.
B. He isn't involved with a storyline that has anything to do with The Great Struggle.
As soon as one of these factors change he's back on the same boat as all other characters.
I hope he never factors into the "so called" struggle.
I'm fantasizing about Tats turning the strip into a sitcom: The Devil Family.
Dad works all day tempting souls to Hell, assisted by his loyal secretary Ms. Blue. Meanwhile his two kids Vainglorious and Evil Jr. get into and out of absurd teenage situations. His wife Kate, an elementary school teacher, has heartwarming moments mentoring at-risk kids (the Sisterhood). Then there are the wacky neighbors, Slick and Monique, who constantly squabble because they don't understand each other. Hilarity ensues.
Sounds better than Heil Honey Im Home
I think there was a short lived sitcom Neighbors From Hell, which had that same sort of demons for next door neighbors.

And Monique has the nerve to keep yammering on that she is the put upon one.
I guess Vainglorious will be his other child.
That's. What. I've. Been. Saying.
Compare his horns to College Hekate's horns. But he has the Devil's tail, too. Guess who his parents are ...
And that's why Hekate gives people the stink-eye if they mention him or his father.
