Or you can try with me and we could fail together. Its better to fail as a group than to fail alone.

[up][up] Not that a positive attitude isn't a nice thing to have, but there's a ton of factors that come into play with things like this.

Like, Real Life. I'm guilty of abandoning projects for both real life pressures and because I got bored and didn't have the desire to do it anymore.

[up] I know it's hard work and that a project such as a VN would take years to complete, but what's holding someone who has a good amount of spare time and willing to put in the effort from working on one? Why are people who have never given it a try so discouraged? I realize many people have failed group projects, some don't want to do it, and some don't have the time or energy. But what's stoping the rest?

Consider something like Na No Wri Mo - the main objective is to form an excuse for people to actually sit down and write something, or else they'd simply find a thousand reasons not too.

Even something like writing a good novel is tremendously difficult. Asking a entire group of people to be able to coordinate schedules, write stories, do art, code, music, and everything else it needs for years FOR FREE goes above and beyond what the the vast majority of people are willing to do.

Hell, the project I abandoned was a visual novel, and one where 90% of the work was already done since we were "borrowing" the assets and the story was already written. But eh, I've got other things going on now. So many video games I haven't played...

Which is a pain for me, since I'm always at my most motivated when I'm working collaboratively. It's one thing to just get bored and find something else to do when I'm working on something of my own, another to bugger off when I've got a team counting on me. But having everyone stick around until the end is really out of the ordinary.

...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.

The best way to motivate people is suggesting an interesting and plausible idea. If you have a good idea, I would like to help creating something out of that idea.

I was wondering, is it a coincidence that Rin from Katawa Shoujo looks like Rin aka Cure Rouge from Pretty Cure? I would assume that it is, but it's a very interesting one, although their appearances (hair, mainly) is pretty much all they have in common. Rin from Yes Pretty Cure 5! is almost a complete opposite of Rin from Katawa Shoujo in personality.

The name might be a reference on the part of the long-ago anon who first suggested it in KS's embryonic stage. Certainly the character design and hair color were established by then, and the final personality wasn't. No way to know, really.

I can't believe that it only just occurred to me now, on a reread I recently started of this (Emi's route, for the record), but you remember that shop in town, "Aura-Mart"? It's a 7-Eleven.

I mean, the colors should have given it away, but I only realized once I started reading the katakana that was left around, namely the one just below the door which says seburen-ireburen (Or more specifically, "seburen-ireburen netto"). And then there are the doors, which still somewhat clearly have the 7-Eleven logo stuck on them.

Am I the only person who missed this, or did other people not realize too?

I had never played a visual novel before, and when I heard of the subject matter, I thought, "They can't be serious," but they were serious, and the seriousness of this work—the devotion of the developers, their insistence on treating these characters like real people and not fetishistic sex objects—is spectacular and heartwarming. I first heard of this from the tvtropes twitter, and I'm glad I happened to catch that tweet. It's been a touching experience for me thus far (having played 4 of the 5 routes with only Lilly to go), and I've enjoyed every minute of it.

I decided to give this VN a try too and already acquired Act I.

How many acts are there and how important are they? (I kept walking in on spoilers when I searched for it on Google >:/)

In the first act you get locked into a route, and then each of the five girls has three additional acts on her path. It seems like you're expecting to be downloading all the acts separately, but there's just the act one preview and the full game, which includes act one.

Yeah, you probably downloaded the demo. The full game has all the acts.

Each route has three acts apiece, but to be honest, there's way more difference between routes than between acts within each of them. Has a lot to do with each route being written by a different person, really.

This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...

Oh yay!

Now I can be not the only one who is late to the party.

This is a unique thing, and I think I like it.

I'm doing Hanako's route first (in Act 2 so far). From what I gather doing Lily's route next should be easy. It does seem like it will be short.

Do I need to pay serious attention to all post Act 1 choices?

For all the routes except Lilly's, what ending you get comes down to one or two choices towards the end (i.e., after act 2). There's a flowchart if you get stuck.
