So Pixar has made eleven films, and not one of them sucks (no, not even Cars or A Bug's Life).

So, which one is the best?

I want to do this a little differently than most threads I've seen. Add 10 points to your favorite, no points to your least favorite, 9 points to your second favorite, and so on and so forth. This way I can see just how liked each film is amongst the people.

Toy Story- 5

A Bug's Life- 4

Monsters, Inc.-6

Finding Nemo- 8

The Incredibles- 1

Cars- 3

Rather than get into a huge debate with you, I'd like to know first why you think this way. Is it because of the humans or 2cd half of the film?

I do sort of agree with Eddie Valiant Jr. I think saying Wall-E sucked may be too strong a term, but I still think it's the worst movie Pixar has made. I believe the problem is in the premise itself: Wall-E is mostly just trying to be a sweet, cute and heartwarming comedy, but I found all that hard to swallow when the story is taking place in a ruined, distopian future. The whole setting of the film did NOT set me in the right mood for Wall-E's antics and as a result, he became something of The Scrappy for me. I thought it was a bit like making a movie about the life of a cute little bunny living inside a concentration camp.

Well it's not really a dystopian future in the purest sense of the term. It's moreover an extreme Utopia that simply festered away into slight Dystopia, after human laziness and reliance on technology. And honestly, all of that simply a by product of the main story- a simple love story between two robots. Besides, I certainly wouldn't call it PIXAR's worst film (Do they even have one? NO.)

Which, to be honest, is exactly what I don't like: The supposed B-plot is far more interesting to me than the A-plot because Wall-E to me just wasn't a compelling character. He was designed to make the audience go aaaawwwww and I found that he had little character depth beyond that. The folks at Pixar are experts on that, but here I just thought they were trying too hard. I really wasn't interested in his romance with EVE and thought it was misplaced in the rather dark and cynical future the story took place in (or maybe that the dark and cynical setting was misplaced in the film). This is just my opinion though, and I'm well aware that I'm a complete minority on this.

[up][up] You, sir, have perfectly capture what I hated about the film.

Pixar had a great track record, but Wall-E was basically a fluff piece.

Yes, but I still don't see how that constitutes as "sucks dick." Yes he's a cute character, but how many other media franchises do we see employing the cuteness appeal  *

? And to say that WALL-E didn't have a personality in the film... either you must have been asleep throughout the first 30 minutes or you were watching a completely different film.

In any case, I see how people might say this is not Pixar's Best film, but I'm still not seeing a valid reason for why this is considered somehow less inferior to all of their others.

No, Wall-E himself does not have a personality. He has a series of traits, but not a personality. He does whatever bland, stereotypically cute thing he thinks will get a reaction out of people at any given moment, but beyond that he never exhibits the slightest depth as a character. Besides, although I don't disagree with the film's environmentalist moral, I found it extremely preachy and heavy-handed (not to mention much less interesting than the B-plot about Wall-E and Eve's love affair).

Yes, I was talking about adding points to the ones I already put up, so that I can have a full idea of the general consensus.

The Pixar Elimination thread was started before Toy Story 3 was released. And besides, I'm doing things a little differently here.

My two cents on the WALL-E debate? I have to agree with what Eddie Valiant said about his (lack of) personality. In fact, all of the characters are like that. I just couldn't connect emotionally with either them or the story. The fact that Pixar chose entirely political themes for the film didn't impress me much.

The scores so far:

Toy Story- 44

A Bug's Life- 22

Toy Story 2- 24

Monsters, Inc.- 36

Finding Nemo- 43

The Incredibles- 44

Cars- 22

Ratatouille- 34

WALL-E- 23

Well it's no surprise that Toy Story 3 is the winner, given that the film just got released a couple of months ago. But at least I agree with it.

You really should have grouped Toy Story as a complete overall series. They're not really sequels as moreover individual segments of a large overarching storyline.

And about having "no personality". I must have been watching a different film or something because that's not the impression I got at all. If anything, it seems like WALL-E is the character with the MOST personality in the entire film (not to say that other's didn't either, just WALL-E exhibited it the most).

I'm sorry but I refuse to believe that a movie as heartwarming, adventurous and endearing as WALL-E could possibly be thought of as "Pixar's fluff piece". You may have grown accustomed to it or something but dammit it's still an awesome film and deserves to be in IMDB's top list.

I can't choose, there are too many awesome titles in their filmography. The worst I could say is that A Bug's Life would not be at the top of my Ranked List Of Great Pixar Movies, but that's not even an attempt to pan it... just that it's been eclipsed by others.
