Because Kinkajou told me to.

So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?

My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.

I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

I wonder what the Arbiter of Time was up to during LR.

[up][up][up]It also took Noel a while to grow on me but once you learn more about him, he definitely became one of my favorite characters in thet rilogy. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how you feel.

[up][up] I would assume he's out of a job.

The fight with Kefka in a new Record Keeper event uses his theme throughout, and in retrospect the fact that it was never used in combat in the original game is something of a shame. It works very well.

The Arbiter of Time was Odin so you know exactly what he was doing in LR.

It's never directly stated but the names used make it quite clear what he is.

His name, Valfodr, was one of the names Odin used when he visited the human world in mythology.

The name of his special attack he uses in his level 99 version is another one of those names but mistranslated. In LR, Odin's blades are the same name but correctly translated.

Isn't Odin fighting alongside Lightning in her Eidolon army for the duration of XIII-2

Time has no meaning in Valhalla, so it's kind of possible for Odin to be in both places.

Except since when could Odin time travel and more importantly, why would he choose to do it now so he could disguise himself as a big demon dude who supervises fights?

Just beat the final boss of XIII-2. What the fuck are the three Bahamuts?

I've got the postgame to do, if I choose. I've probably just lost interest at this point though. Once I fix the issues with my broadband I'd like to just jump into Lightning Returns.

also damn that ending is that to be continued in the next game or in the DLC?

I believe the idea behind the final boss is that Jet Bahamut is Caius while Amber and Garnet Bahamut are Eidolons.

Some of the bonus endings are very much worth it and quite a few of them are very easy to get.

Turn on the scope and reset and go to 4xx, turn down grabbing the artifact from Alyssa for the best ending.

I really didn't like XIII-2's final boss, for multiple reasons.

I hear it's actually a decent fight though, if you aren't over-leveled, which pretty much everyone is by that time. The game damn near encourages it.

It's a fun fight, the fight actually gets easier the more fragments you find till you find them all and he becomes the hardest non dlc boss in the game .

I've seen you say that before but the FF Wiki doesn't make any mention of Jet Bahamut scaling with the Fragments.

I was absolutely overlevelled because I got distracted by sidequests and was enjoying them more than the final dungeon.[lol]

[up]x5 I'll try that one, then. Thanks.

@ Kefka's theme not being used in fights...

Yeah you're right.

FF Villains will occasionally have their leitmotif play during battle, which often heightens the emotional payoff. A particularly good example is Golbez.

IV has a better use of music in battle than Golbez. I hope you all know exactly what I'm talking about.

Edward's Theme when he says his last goodbye to Anna? Or the Dark Elf?

Dark Elf was good, yes; but I was specifically referring to the prologue against Zeromus. Technically speaking, no it wasn't in the fight proper, but still.
